It's a conflict of interests for the mardi gras types, confusion reigns supreme within this community.

Not at all. One can be opposed to the persecution of gays and lesbians without condemning all of the people who follow a religion that in parts of the world persecutes gays and lesbians.

Human rights, innit.

One can but on the whole no.

On the whole, not all Muslims persecute gays and lesbians.

On whole most Muslims condemn homosexuality and where they have their law they persecute.

Persecute would mean tossing of tall buildings.

On the whole, would they tick the box in a referendum which says they approve of homosexual liberation?

The problem in Western countries with large Muslim-minority communities is that nobody dares poll them on certain human and civil rights issues least this reflect badly on them and encourage negative feelings by the broader community against them.

Always, our Muslim communities are protected and shielded against any sort of investigative reporting that might cast a poor light upon them.

A very protected species as no other.

On the whole, all moslems have an inclination to lie about ISLAM, and what it means, to be a moslem,        .....to those who are not moslems.

If they were on the right hole we would not have this problem

No amount of political correctness will make what the bone head Muslims do to gays acceptable.

Unless you are a total fruitloop self loathing drongo

It was only less than 150 years ago that England hanged homosexuals.
So did many other countries including us I think.

My point is that Muslims are only 150 years behind us in progress.

It reads very much like you are not aware of this but in 20 Muslim majority countries, homosexuality is perfectly legal.

In some of those countries, there are specific anti-discrimination laws in place.

Furthermore, in Albania, Tunisia, Lebanon, and Turkey, there are discussions about legalising same sex marriage.

So indeed, on the whole, Muslims do not persecute gays and lesbians.

Well in 11 Muslim majority countries, homosexuality attracts the death penalty.

In several others, it is illegal.

Is that persecution enough?

Many certainly would.

A gay friend of mine from Uni was defending Islam on facebook a while back, but not since Orlando and Palmyra.

Indonesia is lurching towards religious conservatism.
Looks like all the loot Saudi Arabia is pouring into religious education is paying off.

730report did a cover story on in tonight and on the news a human rights watch rep, Andreas Harsono  said Australia should take note as introduction of Aceh style  sharia is gaining traction throughout Indonesia.
