Rep Bob Goodlatte – Be Patient With Secret Prosecutor, 2131
Good morning, I’m still reporting on: Rep Bob Goodlatte – Be Patient With Secret Prosecutor, 2131
Synopsis: Rep. Bob Goodlatte, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee had lost all patience with the Justice Dept. and FBI’s stonewalling of his committee for the past year. Last week, he finally subpoenaed the 1.2 million documents that the committee has been seeking, and threatened to find officials responsible to be in contempt of Congress if these were not produced immediately.
This is what probably drove Attorney General Jeff Sessions to finally reveal to the public that he has had a secret prosecutor collecting up the work product of two committees of Congress, as well as that of the DOJ Inspector General. The really important thing is that Secret Prosecutor John Huber didn’t just start on his investigation last week. He’s been on the job for the past 6 months.
Now that this has been fully revealed, Goodlatte seems willing to see if the speculation is correct that the IG’s report will come sooner than later, then right behind that will be a number of indictments of top level officials issued by Huber. If Goodlatte feels Huber’s indictments don’t go far enough, he is perfectly happy with going back to the 2nd Special Council idea.
