Woman dominate teaching , nursing , childcare etc because they have the qualities desirable for these professions. They have motherly instincts and are care givers. Men dominate constructions because they are good with their hands and have natural strength. It's just how it pans out. Sexism has nothing to do with it.

There's plenty of jobs where they hire women over men. Nurses , teachers and childcare workers are prime examples. It's just a fact that in some industries (like construction) physical strength is very important. Many women just can't lift 50kg pieces of timber. Sometimes perceived inequity is just reality.

There is, but I'm not sure they are good examples. Women are massively overrepresented in those idnustries because its overwhelmingly females who are interested in doing them.

Where they get the biggest leg-up are in industries where the other sex dominates. The higher the domination, the harder they try to get their 'diversity points". My industry is 90+% male, and they'll do anything to get females in. Problem is, there are so few women interested, and those that are, soon get sick of it and move into a paper-pushing role (or get pregnant).

I assume the few men that are interested in teaching, nursing and other female-dominated professions are similarly pursued.

Because when you belong to a class that enforces rules there's nobody above you to enforce rules on you. So they remain unchanged over centuries. The elite class is not a reflection of what is happening in mainstream society. But in saying that more woman are appearing in big business and politics so it seems even this class may be changing.

Men who put up houses don't make big money. I'm sure certified nurses and teachers get paid more.
