Ahok jailed for 2 years

Demokrasi

We now have a fundamentalist Islamic country just to our north.
How will this effect Australia?

Jakarta's Christian governor Ahok found guilty in Islam blasphemy trial[/url]

An Indonesian court has sentenced the minority Christian governor of Jakarta to two years in prison for blaspheming the Koran at a trial that undermined the country's reputation for practicing a moderate form of Islam.

In a tense trial that was widely seen as a test of religious tolerance in the world's largest Muslim-majority nation, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, also known as Ahok, was "found to have legitimately and convincingly conducted a criminal act of blasphemy, and because of that we have imposed two years of imprisonment", head judge Dwiarso Budi Santiarto told the court.

The sentence went against the recommendation of prosecutors, who asked that he be given a suspended jail term.

Ahok was charged with blasphemy after he said clerics had used a Koranic verse to mislead voters by telling them that Muslims were not allowed to vote for a Christian.

He has denied wrongdoing, and said he was not criticising the Koran, but rather the clerics' interpretation of the verse.

Judges said he did it deliberately and did not show remorse. His lawyers will appeal.

Thousands of police have been deployed across the capital in case clashes break out between Ahok's supporters and hard-line Islamists who demanded he be sacked and jailed over the allegations.

You would want to be real careful of what you say in that country, in other Muslim countries he would have been beheaded so he has gotten off light.
They will probably put him in a cell with that gay who was caught in the act. God is great.

I fail to see what was wrong with what he said.

But, it was obviously a ploy to get him out and a CULT friendly nutcase into power.

Indos are twisted at best, retarded and easily led by insane clerics.

This CULT takes offence at everything and anything.

But everything it does and is involved in is offensive.

CULL THE CULT, CULL THE CULT.

Ahok imprisoned in Indonesia  ????

Q.
Why was Ahok imprisoned ?

A.
For 'offending' the       'sensibilities'       of moslems.

n.b.
In Indonesia, Ahok 'shockingly' 'dared' to publicly assert,       that he too [as a person who was not a moslem], should be able to publicly express his views [n.b. when Ahok was being publicly criticised by moslems] !

Well, in deciding to imprison Ahok, yesterday an Indonesian court confirmed, that what Ahok tried to do [as a person who was not a moslem] [i.e. publicly express his views [n.b. when Ahok was being publicly criticised by moslems],         is a criminal offence in Indonesian law.

Wake up people!

That is simply 'par for the course' within every moslem majority jurisdiction.

Pakistan: Christian pastor gets life imprisonment for “blasphemous” text message

The use of Pakistan’s blasphemy law to persecute Christians and other non-Muslims is ongoing, and should be an international scandal.

But no one is particularly concerned.

After all, they don’t want to appear “Islamophobic.”

HERE IN THE WEST [in our land, and in our secular jurisdiction]......

We often see moslems wanting to exercise       their civic right        to PUBLICLY express their private opinions.

The jailing of Ahok is obviously politically motivated.  In this case, the religion had been used as a tool to certain mean.

In the April election, some 43% of the voters supported Ahok, 40% for the other candidate.  He only lost at the run off election.

This shows that like us, the Indonesians are quiet fractured in their belief.  But it is not to say that all of the 40% that voted for the other candidate are extremists.   Support for Ahok and protests are only starting, I think there are more to come.

Indonesia could quite easily fracture along sectarian lines, what a lot of people dont realise there are substantial non Muslim minorities in Indonesia, the official line is that 85 percent of the population identify as Muslim but the real figure in reality could be around 60 percent or so, many people in Indonesia nominate as Muslim simply to get a better job or services, many areas are almost entirely Christian and Bali of course is predominately Hindu.

It's the same in Malaysia. Plenty of government jobs are only for Muslims. This is how Islam spreads. They follow this up with the death penalty for apostasy. Pretty soon everyone is religiously bowing and scraping 6 times a day.

Ask Gandalf and Brian. They think Malaysia and Indonesia are great examples of Islam in action.
