Young moslem woman was abducted and presumably raped - by a moslem man, during the process of a forced marriage.

Chafic Cheryala didn’t apply for bail on Tuesday. He will return to court on Wednesday facing charges of sexual assault and kidnapping.

1/ Because many moslems living here in Australia, clearly consider that their community, here in Australia, exist within Australia, as a separate and parallel legal jurisdiction, here in Australia.

2/ Because many moslems living here in Australia, clearly consider that their community, here in Australia, should be able to function under the legal jurisdictional procedures that apply to an ISLAMIC religious community.

3/ And, that their community, here in Australia, should be able to 'brush aside' the authority of local laws which may be viewed as interfering in the 'proper' cultural authority of the cultural and religious laws which 'properly' apply to their own ISLAMIC religious community, here in Australia.

If you don't believe this,

if you do not believe, that many moslems, who are living here in Australia, would hold such views,
.....i.e. the personal view [expressed by many moslems], which endorses the/an overriding legal authority, which ISLAM's cultural and religious laws, and that those cultural and religious laws must 'properly' be permitted to apply to their own ISLAMIC [religious] community, here in Australia,

In the incident in the OP, the victim was a young moslem woman.

And within the psyche of this moslem man [who abducted her], he had ISLAM had 'transformed' her, [from the independent individual which she aspired to be],
into a 'commodity' which was 'useful' to him [because as his wife, she would entitle this moslem man, to Australian citizenship], or so he hopes!

But the truth is,

that ISLAMIC culture [and religion] does 'transform' [in the psyche of the devout moslem man] all women into the sexual objects and the possessions of the moslem man.

TRUTH;

This woman was abducted then married with an Islamic marriage then raped.
