Police will allege Jesse Thompson and a friend were pursued following a
possible road rage incident and cornered in Byron St, Wyong, just before 12.30pm on Monday.It is alleged a gunman, in a white Mitsubishi Triton, approached the Toyota Kluger in which Mr Thompson was a passenger and shot him in the neck.
Flash burns on the 19-year-old’s skin suggested the shot was fired at close range, with the 28-year-old driver, who escaped with only injuries, hit in the hand.
Tuggerah Lakes Local Area Command has been investigating the incident with assistance from the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad.
About 10.50am yesterday, police arrested a 48-year-old man during a car stop at George Booth Drive, Sea Hampton.
He was taken to Toronto Police Station where he was charged with accessory after the fact to murder.
He was refused bail to appear at Toronto Local Court today.
Tactical Operations Unit officers stopped a second vehicle in Forest Road, Wyee, about 1.20pm and arrested a 24-year-old man.
He was taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with murder, wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm x 2, shoot with intent to murder, and fire firearm in or near public place.
He was refused bail to appear at Wyong Local Court today.
A 17-year-old girl was arrested a short time later in nearby Wyee Street and taken to Wyong Police Station where she was charged with murder and wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
She was refused bail to appear at a Children’s Court today.
