Indeed.

He didn't win the election based on his popularity, though.

Far from it.

That's not in dispute.

You claim he won because of his popularity.

He didn't.

I disagree, it's easy to see why Trump won.

On 2 levels.

1/ He won more electorate votes than Hillary did.
All jokes aside, in America, that is how you win.

2/ He worked his butt off. He worked intelligently, but he worked.
He put in the hard yards. He never stopped.
He put his pedal to the metal.
He did many more speeches than Hillary to many more people per speech.

Another way to look at it is:

1.
Trump won because America is not a Democracy, a Democracy where 50% + 1 = victory.

2. Trump won because America is not a
"Mobocracy"
.... See #1

3. Trump won because America is a Republic.....a
Constitutional Republic
, where laws protect the minority from the majority, where the People are protected from the majority will of the People via the Rule of Law over popularity.
Wink

still claiming that USA is not a democracy, Pancake?

idiot

another thought occured to me about trump.

i was with a car salesman and i thought "this guy is a bit slick, but , by god, he understands human psychology."
why is that?

i think it is because the salesman gets almost instant feedback on every interaction he enters into.
he gets to see the result in real time.
he becomes super aware and socially intelligent or he starves.
a salesman, probably knows how to push buttons, how to stroke egos, how to dominate and manipulate.  he probably knows exactly what he is doing and he is now operating at a paradigm of mastery with his ability to understand others.

what better skill to take to a presidential campaign, then the millions of hours of brutal training from the sales office.

is it any wonder that trump won.
it was almost inevitable.

he has so much more knowledge and street smarts , based on this constant feedback, then a democrat who lives "stuck in his own head".

its why , in this world, it is important to be in touch with reality.
another word for reality is "the marketplace".

lefties should really all go run a business to sharpen their skills. it will be much more productive then just remaining stuck in their own mental masturbation

Can not help but consider the impact that the Russians had in his support or what all the phone calls to Trump Tower from the Russians were about.

There was a huge impact on the election caused by all the anti Hillary fake news.

Then there is the fact that the FBI investigation being improperly re opened 11 days before the vote which changed the result of the election.

its confusing as hell as to why trump won.
i can understand the lefts confusion.
i can understand the media confusion.

What on earth led people to vote for a guy like trump.

the guy just clearly "does not give a f*ck"
the guy just clearly is so cocky and so unshakeable that they cannot shame him and they cannot dominate him at all

Trump is just exhibiting super alpha qualities.

he is  DEFINING THE FRAME.

Trump is defining the frame through deception, dear. The narrow road to success is driven by integrity.

Fat Steve ignored Trump's lies because he said he'd get tough on Mexicans and Muslims. Now that Trump's lies on Obamacare are exposed - he said he'd make it more affordable AND cover more people - Fat Steve will find out that he's worse off under Trump. Trump's les will now count. By the end of this presidency, Fat Steve will be hankering for a president who's honest and up-front.

The narrow road to success is defined by outcomes and achievements. Many aspiring to this path lose their way. Most fail.

Trump will be one of those men.

Aqua, you are describing the malignant narcissism of a man who is both rich enough and too old to care what the consequences of his political incompetence may be... Yes, narcissism masquerades as confidence and competence, but its manifestation is proportional to the sufferer's sense of inner doubt and terror of his inability (from which, at the 3AM of his soul, he knows he suffers)... i.e. the more the cockiness, the greater the inner turmoil.

Karnal, of course, is right... As with the ancient truism by which we all instinctively judge our leaders, 'You will know them by their deeds' will ultimately expose Trump's fundamental incompetence... What would you do to your 'alpha male horse' if he proved incapable of siring offspring?

We all have "inner doubt" - those of us who are sane at least. I would say from your mantra "conviction is the art of being certain" that you have more than most. Yes?

As I assume Trump has but what he also has is commitment to what he promised to the people and conviction based on his experience as a businessman that he can do it.

The fact that the corrupt media hates Trump so much should tell you something - he is a threat. Whoever has the superior economic muscle in the US - rules. They can and do put pressure on these media outlets. Trump can break up their rackets and many may end up in jail. Therefore they are panicked. Am I making sense to you?

The average Joe has absolutely no idea of what's going on. He is blind and gagged only knows what the media wants him to believe.

Ever see an alpha get owned, dear? We've all seen bullies brought down. Seeing this is one of our biggest pleasures. It's why comedy and tragedy was invented - to let the masses see their oppressors brought down - on stage.

Trump is now coming down. His body language during the G19 was pitiful to watch. The US no longer has someone in the driver's seat, standing up for their interests. The western world no longer has the US centre-stage.

Trump has been bested by Merkel. The filly in red has taken over as global pack leader. Trump just looks lost. He has, like all exposed bullies, no comeback.

This is not a media hoax, it's real. Trump has let his side down, and remember, global negotiating was meant to be his strength. He was going to reach out to the world to get the best deal for the US.

Trump has all but given up, which is what the fallen alpha does. This horse isolates from the pack and goes rogue. If he returns, even the fillies go for him. Trump is now in this position. He's on his own.

The US is no longer the leader of the free world, and this is all thanks to Trump.

I don't know if I have more or less than most... But I believe that doubt is the abyss that separates us all from claiming to know truth... It is the primary reason we humans invent gods (imaginary beings who know, or in the ancient proto-atheistic sense, Plato's 'Philosopher King' - the one who knows).

trump would undoubtedly be receiving commentary like this all the time.
but if he lets this infect his brain, he "loses state".
when you have a "state crash" and start to question your own awesomeness, you go into a psychological tailspin.
then the mob will really get out the pitchforks and he will be totally screwed.

what i am saying Karnal , is that you may well be right and it may well pan out like this if trump is , indeed, a counterfeit "superior man".

but if Churchill had read all the doom sayers in 1941
if gandhi or mandella  had let themselves have a state crash and had just become complaint little pussies, then would this have helped their cause?

trump has to soldier on like churchill in 1941. if he blinks, its all over for him.  the die is cast. he has crossed the rubicon, he has burnt the boats. the left are correct in a bemusing way to call him hitler, because i think he will soon call for total war and head to the fuhrer bunker  Wink
