I want to bring back the hung drawn and quartered rule, they might think twice then.

Are you saying the guillotine on live TV is not good enough for them?

not at all, I am just trying to workshop a few ideas to possibly come up with the most effective deterrent.
I would even go along with public stonings if I thought that would help.

When they have been judicially found to have committed said acts,
then
they lose a plethora of rights.  Until then, they have many rights including a right to the presumption of innocence.

Well I'm all broken up about that man's rights:

A guillotine on live TV would soon get the message out.
That's all Australia needs to solve this problem but
those in power are too gutless to do it.

Do we have to wait until a Jumbo Jet is blown out of Australian skies with 500 passengers on it before the idiot Politicians finally wake up to the fact that it is one minute to midnight for Australia?

We have a Muslim problem an enormous one. If it hadn't been for the exceptional work of our security agencies it is likely that these Jihadists would have brought down QF41 with a full load of passengers

THEY DON"T CARE IF THERE ARE MUSLIMS ON BOARD..They see themselves as martys and any other collateral damage to Muslims on board an acceptable loss for the greater good

How long can  our frontline security keep finding out plots in the nick of time?

IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME before these extremists succeed just by weight numbers

Forget about targeting everyday Australians and concentrate on every Muslim who boards an aircraft here

It is a total load of crap screening everyone when the risk is coming from the Muslims

dear Baron,
I have a feeling that any radical muslim inside an airport is known about & they are watched & scanned.

The authorities have to be politically correct & not say that. Wink

Fact is...Aussie agencies did not even have this four on their radar until about mid last week when they got some sort of tip-off from overseas.  Further fact is......no charges yet laid despite 48 + hours of detention.

Get over yourself Mr Baron, please.....

How would you do that?

When they board the plane, do you ask them what religion they are?

"Welcome aboard sir, what religion are you?"

"I'm an atheist, actually".

"Fine. Please take your seat, place your bomb in the overhead compartment, and enjoy the in-flight entertainment".

I'm serious red: how exactly would you screen people and determine what religion they are?

Sure but the authorities have their hands tied behind their backs.

It will take a huge attack before they get serious about it.

The men detained in counter-terrorism raids on the weekend may have already made an attempt to smuggle their homemade bomb onto an international flight prior to raids, law enforcement officials have told 7.30.

Key points:
Foreign tip-off led to police uncovering plot to bring bomb onboard flight in meat grinder
Intelligence agency intercepted messages from conspirators in Syria
Raids fast-tracked after British Government warned they could issue Australian travel warning
Arrested men described as an "organised cell" with "technical capabilities" and access to materials that "pose a credible risk"
The men may have then developed an alternate plan after that failed attempt and tried to get the device onto a domestic flight.

"We have a quite sophisticated terrorist conspiracy, in contrast to several of the more low-tech unsophisticated conspiracies which have been thwarted in Australia in recent times," security expert Neil Fergus said.

Behind the plot are a small group of Sydney men with deep connections to Islamic State.

The apparent instigator of the plot is Khaled Khayat, whose brother is believed to be a senior fighter with IS in Syria.

Khaled Khayat's son, Mahmoud Kayat, is also being held by police.

The other two men arrested, Abdul El Karim and Khaled Merhi are related to Ahmed Merhi, who travelled to Syria in 2014 and is fighting for IS.

"These networks, whether they're familial or otherwise, are very important," said Jacinta Carroll, head of the Australian Strategic Policy Institute's counter-terrorism policy.

"That's why Australia and other countries have been so concerned about preventing the travel of their own individuals as foreign fighters."

In a Facebook post, Ahmed Mehri called on Muslims to undertake suicide attacks, known as istishhadi.

"You must continue with istishhadi operations for, by Allah, it is very effective poison against the enemy's (sic) of Allah."
