I'm just trying to understand your logic in defending Islam by insisting something is not in the Koran, while elsewhere you cite your own ignorance of Islam to justify your defence of the religion.

If you concede that the Koran contains daft things, then the fact that it would be daft for the Koran to say this is not a rational argument for why it is not in there.

ISLAMIC law [i.e. the following of ISLAM and the 'influence' of ISLAM] always informs the actions and the behaviour of any 'proper' moslem, and, the societal 'mores' which are evident witin every moslem majority nation.

He makes the argument, that even if this appalling crime is       not explicitly    sanctioned within the Koran,          the moral RESPONSIBILITY for this appalling travesty of common justice       can be 'sheeted home' to ISLAM,             because Pakistan is a society that is overwhelmingly dominated by 1/ ISLAM, 2/ the influence of ISLAMIC law and by the influence of 3/ ISLAMIC cultural traditions.

TWO OBVIOUS Q's THAT ARISE FROM THIS INCIDENT....

1/ Why    DIDN'T    the Pakistani jirga (village council) choose to punish the rapist ?

2/ Why    DID       the Pakistani jirga (village council) choose to punish an innocent party [the rapists sister],       for a crime which was committed by another person [the rapist] ?

ISLAM is a wholly unjust and barbaric philosophy, imo.

And it is in large measure ISLAM's barbaric nature, which protects the ISLAMIC ideology from any influence of 'revision'.

Any honest [and informed] person knows what ISLAM is, and also knows that 'reform' of ISLAM is impossible.

ISLAMIC history is littered with the bodies of those moslems who dared to suggest, to fellow moslems, that they felt some aspect of ISLAM required 'change'.

Those moslems who walk down that 'mis-taken' path are very often killed by their own 'compatriots'.
