Girl raped twice on same night, two arrested in Birmingham

Two men have been arrested after a 14-year-old British girl was raped twice on the same night, police said.

The teenager was sexually assaulted at Witton station in Birmingham on Tuesday night and was then raped again after she flagged down a vehicle for help, the BBC reported.

Det Chief Inspector Tony Fitzpatrick, from British Transport Police, said in a statement that two men, aged 35 and 27, had been arrested in relation to the first attack, but a search continued for the second offence.

"Overnight there have been significant developments after we released CCTV images of two men we would like to speak with.

"I'd like to thank the public and the media for the overwhelming support in sharing this appeal.

"Both these arrests relate to the first incident at Witton station on Tuesday evening this week. Our investigation into the second incident in the vehicle continues at a pace."

Police said the young victim was walking with a friend into the train station when a man approached her, led her to a secluded areas of the station and raped her.

Following the assault, the girl flagged down a passing car to ask for help about 2am, but when she entered the vehicle she was sexually assaulted for a second time, police said.
