Am I doing Something Wrong?

Am I doing Something Wrong?

1.      About a Month ago, I stopped in the lane closest to the outside of the road, at a set of “Traffic Lights’, because the Lights facing me turned Orange. About 5-10 seconds or so later, a car travelling in the lane closest to the middle of the road went thru a RED Light and very nearly hit a car which had come from our right, thru a Green light. If I had been in the lane closest to the middle of the road, I would most likely have been hit, as clearly the other car’s driver was not looking ahead!
2.      Within the last month, I was overtaken by a car travelling in the lane closest to the middle of the road, as I was already in a section of road, which went from 2 lanes to one lane, all of which was clearly marked. Fortunately, I had the other car in my rear vision mirror and I slowed down, to avoid a collision!
3.      Also within the last month, I was overtaken by a car which had been behind me, then changed to the lane closest to the outside of the road, at an accelerated speed. All of this took place just before where the road went from two lanes to one lane & the closed lane was clearly marked. Fortunately, I had the other car in my rear vision mirror and I slowed down, to avoid a collision!
4.      Last night, on the way home from our daughters place, I was driving along a major road, within the speed limit (as usual) & as we approached a T Junction (which had a “Give Way sign”), the vehicle which had been stationary behind the Give Way Sign pulled out, when we were basically right there. Fortunately, I had been watching & as soon as the other car started to pull out in front of us, I hit the brakes hard & swerved out a little into the lane closest to the middle of the road. The other car must have FINALLY seen/heard us & braked, so we JUST avoided hitting it. Also fortunately, there was no other car in the lane closest to the middle of the road, so we didn’t hit anything in the other lane.

So again, the question is “Am I doing Something Wrong”?
And, the appropriate answer, as I see it, is NO!
That said, there are “SOME DRIVERS” out there, WHO SEEM TO HAVE A FEW ISSUES and my thoughts are,THEY ARE NO DOUBT CAUSING QUITE A FEW PROBLEMS!

Your Thoughts?

I can't make sense of any of those descriptions.

I don't have time, and so I'll agree with whatever Aussie says about your situation.

Take a diazepam and have a good lie down.

Yes - next question....

Bringing the ex home from hospital yesterday - I'm CERTAIN we saw the classic to end all classics.....

.....on the freeway - 110 kph zone, a guy did a U-turn from the opposite side of the four lane in front  of the car in front of us, causing him to anchor fiercely, swung over to the 'emergency lane', then swung back... causing the guy to brake again....  (I was at my usual safe distance which is plenty, so I didn't have to brake at all)....

Unfortunately my car camera is not working - can't offload all the old stuff on the SD card... I'm sure I'd be on a winner with Australia's Least Wanted Drivers or whatever...

Perceptions, I've had too hard a day to work out all those scenarios.
But my advice is, always assume the drivers around you are idiots . . .because generally they are.

x2

Even as a non-car-owning pedestrian I witness idiocy on the roads all the time, not the least of which is aggressive tailing right up the arse of someone in front.

What amazes me is how few road rage incidences there are at traffic lights where people catch up with the hoons.

There's now The Ethnic Component (multicultural car driving) which makes things a lot more hazardous on the roads than they used to be.

With Sydney now being stiff with South East Asians and Indians, the roads have become a definite health hazard.

Ah yes - the international licence - no use blinkah ... no use left lane unress overtake, right lane personal prerogative of better crass of foreigner .... speed limit sign.... what speed limit sign ... cut people off by zooming up as they are about to change lanes to overtake truck then wonder why cursing - Campsie, stop in middle of street for chat with mate while traffic waits for you .... camel doesn't normally take up that much room?  Licence?  What this licence?  No require old country....

I've seen people in front of me dead halt at a GREEN light, then go on the red after I've nearly slammed into them...  followed one guy down Old Northern Road - in the 80 zone he did 60, in the 60 zone he did 80..... hello? Another guy I was behind looked in his rear vision mirror, panicked when he saw me there, and rolled his car... (professional driving team member) .... another guy pulled out to overtake a truck with me behind him - then panicked alongside it and sat there until a car started coming the other way... dopey sheila pulled out at maybe 50kph in the 110 zone from a side road (right angle - you get the speed) - with a 500 metre slip lane to use to enter safely, and swung straight out in front of me in the left lane as another car was overtaking me....

You see 'em all after a while...

I've just thought of another piece of advice after reading everybody's comments - don't go near cities

Having just seen a headline about how driverless cars will save lives, I'm now wondering how they will cope with being on the road with idiots.
Surely they are programmed to anticipate logical situations and actions so how do they get along with raving lunatics?

Before long they'll have an extra component built into them that will give them a certain capability under a special Act of parliament.
