Initially it won't be a land war ~ just rockets from submarines and US territories, with only the 'clean-up' stages seeing boots-on-the-ground.

Kim Jong-un's Achilles Heel in a hot war is the very real potential that his own troops would surrender en masse to US and South Korean ground-troops who many of them would regard as liberating forces from a living hell they've known since birth.

Bridgewater, New Jersey (CNN)President Donald Trump reiterated his bellicose warning to North Korea from earlier in the week, telling reporters at his golf club in New Jersey on Thursday that

his threat to bring "fire and fury" if North Korea continued to threaten the United States may not have gone far enough.

"Maybe it wasn't tough enough," Trump said during a lengthy exchange with reporters.

Trump said that past administrations had not done enough to take on North Korea and that it is time a President "stuck up for the country."

Trump declined to rule out a preemptive strike on North Korea, saying he won't discuss potential military options.

Trump responded to North Korea's threat to hit Guam by mid-August with a threat of his own.

"Let's see what he does with Guam," Trump said in apparent reference to Kim Jong Un. "He does something in Guam, it will be an event the likes of which nobody has seen before."

"You'll see, you'll see. And he'll see," he said.

It makes me laugh when we have countries like Russia saying they want the US to try a peaceful solution. First of all, that approach clearly hasn't worked. Sanctions will never work because of NK's military-first policy. Kim would let his own people starve (they eat grass now) before depriving his precious military. Secondly, the Russians can hardly talk given their actions in Crimea and Ukraine.
