It's broken. And it's a systematic issue. Parliamentary democracy is coming to the end of its usefulness.
Politicians make decisions --usually in secret (eg cabinet secrecy), and often influenced by lobbyists and vested interests, and with no accountability-- in their own self-interest, in their party's interests, and a long long way behind, in the interests of Australia going forward.
People who think labor is better than Lib, or vice versa, are just self-deluded. The issue is not which political party is in government, the issue is the system itself. Our representatives do not make reasonable decisions, consistent with evidence and common sense and argued publicly, and in the interest of the country going forward; they are just ideologically driven.
I just heard on the radio that the leading cause of death in australian males between 16 and 44 years of age, is suicide. What a disturbing fact, but evidence that something very wrong is going on in australia.
