Nixon was a pariah and is now a byword for corruption. An yet, he was actually a pretty good president, just not as good at dealing with corruption as he should have been.

By contrast. Trump is an astonishingly incompetent president having accomplished NOTHING at all and his level of corruption and collusion makes Nixon look like a saint. In coming years and decades, 'Trump' will be the word for corruption, treason and incompetence.

Just finished John A Farrell's biography - Nixon - A Life.

In hindsight (being retro-clear-sight notwithstanding) its fair to say that (like all 'Shakepeareanesque' characters), the seeds of Nixon's self-destruction were sown at a very young age...That is, the gun was loaded and cocked long before his presidency.

The same will be borne out with Trump.

BTW Nixon established the EPA and would have had a healthcare system that, had Watergate not happened, might have been dubbed 'Nixoncare'.

Yes... And this is where the political and intellectual polar opposites that define Nixon and Trump converge...

Nixon was blighted with an intractable psychopathology that was always destined to act upon his aspirations like gravity. Trump's psychopathology will ultimately have the same effect.

What is intriguing is that so many people (up to and including Eisenhower and Truman) had premonitions of Nixon's unfitness for the presidency... Eisenhower (after hospitalisation over a heart attack) was deeply disturbed at the prospect of his VP becoming president in the event of his (then probable) untimely death.

If you read the statement of charges and the unsealed details you would already know that Gates and Manafort have extensive and very dubious connections to Russia and Putin and then there is good ol' George... who has ADMITTED to seeking collusion with Russia and getting permission from other trump people. Fattie, you remind me of the clown who was convinced the Moon Landings were fake and when asked what would convince him they were real said 'if i see real photos of the landing sites'.
