Yes. A couple of Religious blessings ...

On the trawlers owned by Muslims the prawns are individually hung upside down before having their throats slit for the halal fish markets.

For 50,000 years the poor Abos never had salt to sprinkle on their food.

They could probably rub their kangaroo meat into Lake Eyre, if they were that concerned.

The salt merchants of the Sahara desert trekked for hundreds of miles over many centuries to bring their salt to the markets at Timbuctoo. It's an essential ingredient for enhancing the taste of a wide variety of foods.

They use salt to prolong the life of meat products.

A rather odd turn of phrase there.....

That too.

As far as I am concerned, prolonging the time to use meat products by salting them is the ONLY reason why salt is needed. We might use salt to flavour our foods today. But, not in the days of Saharan desert trekkers. I doubt that a product that causes dehydration is something desirable by North Africans to optionally add to their meat. I would assume that they wash the salt off the meat before cooking them.
