I can't work out why it is such a problem for the US and Russia to have better relations. I hope Trump is doing deals with Putin considering all of the nukes pointed everywhere.

You don't get a meaningful improvement by having a President who is owned by or in debt to a foreign power.

Like our government?

Good point, Homo. We'd have no probs with Putin hacking the ALP's emails and giving them to Wikileaks.

We'd have no issue with the Russians funding a Facebook ad campaign targeting key marginal seats, creating fake news stories on Bill Shorten and even creating fake news outlets and blogs to put them in.

We wouldn't worry about Turnbull doing business deals in Russia and having a bevy of Russian prostitutes sent up to his room as Mr Trump's bodyguard testified to Congress about Mr Trump. We wouldn't care if Putin kept footage of this in an attempt to blackmail Turnbull.

We wouldn't mind if Putin sent Russian lawyers over to meet with senior Liberal campaign staff to promise dirt on Shorten, and a few hours later Turnbull promised dirt on Shorten in a campaign speech, calling on Putin to hack Shorten's emails.

We wouldn't care if most of Turnbull's senior staffers had lied on their security clearances about meetings with Russian agents or deals with foreign countries to promote their interests within the Australian government.

We wouldn't care about any of that. After all, there are some things far more important than being ruled over by a foreign power, no?

LOCK HER UP. DRAIN THE SWAMP. BUILD THE WALL.

Don't speak for me babe. I'm just pointing out a honest fact. Australia has followed the US into every war since WW2. Obviously you don't have a problem with that?

You're read my thoughts. What do you think, babe?

The ANZUS alliance is policy. What do you call a covert project to undermine a national election?

I've read your thoughts too, dear. You think it's all good.

Flynn's confession comes on top of Trump's attempts to stop the investigation. You can try to laugh it off, but Trump is walking a tightrope of his own making. Never mind, by his own statement, Flynn has found God in the process, so everything will work our fine. I always trust people who find God after being caught out.

Mr Trump found God too, Issue. It was some time last year, during his campaign. When he was asked what his favourite Bible verse is, he said the bit about an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.

Mr Trump, you see, is into Old Testament justice. He believes in the Law.

This is an opinion piece and not reporting! This shows how much we have lost our first amendment right to freedom of speech, if you are not under Oath then you could lie to anyone until recently. How unjust is it to bury an individual in legal debt to force them to give so called evidence against others. There is no crime in contacting other countries leaders and asking them to wait to do something until after the inauguration?

Douglas E. Schoen has been a consultant for the Democratic Party for the past thirty years. A founding partner of Penn, Schoen, and Berland Associates, Inc., he was former President Bill Clinton's research and strategic consultant during the 1996 reelection campaign and has worked for major corporations and nineteen heads of state around the world, including Silvio Berlusconi, Shimon Peres, Yitzhak Rabin, and Ehud Barak. He is the author of five books.

You are obviously NOT following the facts of this breaking story. Flynn is ready to testify that Trump ordered him to contact the Russians before he took office and also before the election.  This is illegal and also collusion.

But the best part of any political crime is the COVER-UP and Trump and co have been desperately trying to cover-up all their contacts with Russia which were immense and illegal.

The fun is about to begin.
