America has the Death Penalty for certain crimes, and all they need do is include the illegal breaching of US borders as sufficient reason for being shot at by border patrols.

It's as simple as that.

For as long as the US is not willing to shoot at trespassers ~ then the wall idea is pure bunkum.

A wall such as Trump proposes is therefore not without precedent - in neither scale nor reasoning.

As for the cost, a mere 21 billion? What does the lack of such a wall cost when you factor in illegal immigration, drug smuggling, criminal activity and the very real national security risks?

We are lucky, in this country, to have our own walls already erected, or more accurately, already provided by nature. Our ocean and sea borders cost us nothing except the cost of policing.

And the sooner we get even more serious about this, the better off we will all be.
