Are you happy that more people now have a job?
A simple yes or no answer will do.

In that case tax the profiteers so that some of their increased wealth can trickle down... you can't have trickle down without someone controlling the tap and that controller is....... taxation... and thus responsible government.

Well when you have a financially brilliant man like Mal steering Australia to an export led booming prosperity for all what else can you expect ?

The booming Australian economy is what will win the election for Mal.

Surely that means though that Mal is better than Howard and Fraser.

How?  What has he done to create jobs?  Exactly how did the government do this?  Somebody?  Somebody?

Allowed more people in thus generating a need for some servicing of more people..... a nonsense argument for jobs an economic growth .... delayed the school leavers becoming unemployment benefit recipients thus distorting the figures ..... created more part-time jobs which are essentially desperation jobs and don't pay the bills .... enabled more visa holders in to do jobs, and as someone said, did nothing to act against illegals 'wetbacking' jobs.......

So... apart from all that.. what has Malcolm done to produce Jobson Growthe?

A simple yes or no answer will do.

Jobs growth doesn't count if those jobs are just going to migrants flooding into the country on foreign work visas. We have a particular problem with illegal immigrants that is not being fixed by this do-nothing government.

Unemployment hasn't declined (it increased in December) and nothing is being done to reduce it. Long-term unemployment is a particular problem because the job services providers are useless idiots, employers aren't recruiting the long-term unemployed, the wider community are too fond of persecuting the unemployed, and everyone in Parliament thinks they know best about how to fix the problem without bothering to consult the unemployed themselves.

The only acceptable level of involuntary long-term unemployment is zero. Unemployment is currently at nearly 6% (official), about 10% (actual). Involuntary long-term unemployment makes up a bit more than half of those numbers. Nobody with a functioning brain can be happy with the jobs figures if long-term unemployment is not coming down, and strongly.

25 years of economic growth? Really? For whom?

Hey Bam....you were saying...

The 457 visa for temporary workers won’t be officially abolished until March 1, but the number granted has already fallen by more than a third – heralding a squeeze on foreign workers by the coalition.

LW are you going to go into mourning on Australia Day = Invasion Day ?

Have you applied for a job at Uber yet ?

Why don't you get a job ??? You seem to talk about others doing it a lot ?

Or is this it for you ?

Employment numbers set historic mark

Interesting that the unemployment rate increased to 5.5%.

While 35,000 people found a job - the poster forgot to mention that 20,000 people were made unemployed.

Looks like the title is just cherry picking when you consider that unemployment actually increased.

Whinge, whinge, whinge. Don't you Lefties have anything positive to say about this country. You want to change Australia Day. You want tax everything that moves, and you want policies that lead to high inflation. AND you want out of the ANZUS treaty.

Bam said the number of jobs is meaningless because of high levels of immigration and our do nothing govt was not addressing that. I've just posted a a story about 457s being cut back.

Come on guys don't be such rusted on partisans. Surely good news is good news? Right?

Renaming the 457 visa won't fix the problems. Many of these foreign workers are given other classes of visa, some of which limit their hours of work and others don't even allow them to work in Australia at all. Others overstay their visas and then disappear. These are the major source of illegal immigrants. Why does the government do nothing about them?

Labour market testing is too lax for some classes of visa, others don't have any. Some companies don't even bother employing Australians at all. Others sack their Australian staff and import foreign workers. Why does the government allow this to take place?

Until these problems are fixed, any minor changes to 457 visas such as renaming them won't do anything useful.

Not enough.

Another similar question to ask: how many of these record number of jobs is secure employment?
