Truth covers a multitude of sins in today’s world. The first truth to be faced is the ignorance of Chapter and Verse of the Koran. Too many of those well aware of violencent Islam are dangeerusly unaware of it’s sources in the Koran.
The second truth to be faced is Islam isn’t the only religion whose practitioners have used their sacred tome as justification for multitudinous crimes against the infidel/heathen.
From my perspective the main problem we have in our dealings with this particular religion stem from totally misguided political correctness insisting all holy books should not be criticised.
Then we have the problem of those ‘moderate muslims’ who somehow manage to ignore the nastier passages in the Koran often prattling on with absurd claims the Koran’s real meaning cannot be understood unless we read it in the original language.
There are a number of Islamic scholars who are aware of the inate problems in the Koran but for them speaking out usually means being stoned to death or similar punishment. The gutlessness of Western academic institutions in not providing them with an opportunity to speak out is sickening. They don’t need to give public addresses on campus but could have the publication of their critical Koranic studies subsidised in print/on line by those institutions with enough moral back bone.
