Why the hell was the dirty monkey released on bail????Onur Dedeoglu, 37, was working as a driver for the ride-share service on Sunday morning when he picked up the 17-year-old girl and two of her friends in the city.
Onur Dedeoglu, 37, was working as a driver for the ride-share service on Sunday morning when he picked up the 17-year-old girl and two of her friends in the city.
The girl's two friends got out of the car in Bondi around 1.30am, and she remained inside to be taken to an address in North Bondi.
The Uber driver is accused of raping her in the car while she was asleep.
The teen reported the alleged sexual assault to police, who on Monday afternoon arrested the man at a home in Liverpool.
He was taken to Liverpool Police Station and charged with sexual intercourse without consent.
Assistant Commissioner Mark Walton, Central Metropolitan Region Commander, said on Tuesday that the teenage victim was coping well in the wake of the "traumatic" alleged incident.
"It's a very traumatic incident but she's got the support of her family and the police are making sure she's looked after," he said.
"Any sexual assault is a very distressing situation for any person."
Mr Dedeoglu was granted police bail to appear in Liverpool Local Court on October 25.
One of the conditions of his bail is that he must not work as an Uber driver.
Assistant Commissioner Walton would not comment on Mr Dedeoglu being out on bail.
"He has been granted conditional bail. I'm not in a position to elaborate," he said.
Uber on Tuesday released a statement condemning alleged assault.
"This is deeply upsetting and has no place anywhere. As soon as we became aware of this report, we immediately removed this driver's access to the app," the ride share giant said in a statement.
"We are working closely with the New South Wales Police Force and will continue to support their investigation in any way possible."
