Something about smoking weed if you believed the GBR would disappear in a few decades time. One of your deadbeat mates obviously reading from the same script book as you do.

Not that these poli pricks will be around in a few decades time to see the implications of their rubbish backward thinking polices Sad

So you have solid evidence the GBR will be gone in a few decades?

Yeah and the reef wasn't even dead where the bleaching occurred.

"it’s the zooxanthellae living inside the tissue of the coral polyps that gives corals the browns, greens, purples and other colours we see out on the reef."

http://www.reefteach.com.au/coral-bleaching/

It is the zooxanthellae then, that when ejected by the coral polyps give it that bleached look.

BTW- Has anyone shown how CO2 causes the oceans to warm?

When you lot get your way the reef will be permanently dead and buried. But as long as you don't read the reports you can still plead ignorance of course and dickheads like yourself continually posting that black is white.

So if GBR is "gunna die", global temperatures would have to rise along the whole 2300Km stretch.

So if the ocean temperature in which corals currently survive is 27-32C then they are all gunna die somewhere between those magical numbers 27.5-32.5C.

Of course we will ignore any propensity for them to adapt to warmer temperatures over time. We will just assume one day we will wake up and voila instantaneous oceanic temperature rise.

Having been around for 500,000 years they have never adapted before. /sarc

The reef hasn't been around for 500,000 years. Just more proof of your ignorance.

Much of the reef is growing in shallow water that was dry land 15,000 years ago.

The GBR hasn't been around that long. Coral reefs have. They just didn't appear. There must have had seeding from somewhere. Wink

"Research indicates that the coral rock that forms the base of the modern Great Barrier Reef is mostly about 2 million years old, although in some northern parts the reef’s foundations date back to more than 18 million years."

http://www.reefmagiceducation.com/?page_id=303

...

I assume you can follow the temperature reconstruction out to 18 million years.
