I think all animals are support animlas- regardless if they be dogs or cats- why do we have pets- if not for support? Pets stick with you mostly- they arent fickle- and their love isnt dependent on if you get fat/insane/ and why just pick on women- men have dogs too-

Historically men kept animals for food or work tools. It's a feminine trait to make them fur babies etc.
