I bought from eBay…the 3 seasons of Star Wars The Mandalorean.
Great visuals. I’m only half way through the second season.
But yeah….bit of a sci fi fan here

But story wise, I prefer Star Trek compared to Star Wars.

Then I decided to unbox my collection of classic Australian movies…
As I watch them one by one I will comment in here about it.
I’ve got to finish the Mandalorean first.
Then I’ll be off O/S for a month!
I wonder what movies I will see in plane?
I’ve got my own earphones.

Interesting, a bit closer to the legend than the 2010 version. Worth watching in it's own right.

Went the Day Well? (1942)

A 1942 Propaganda film made by Earling Studios from a Graham Greene short story. It was the first film to suggest that Hitler was going to be defeated. Used as a basis for the Eagle has Landed, it features the village of Bramley Edge as they resist a German attempt to infiltrate and take over the village before Sea Lowe happens. The villagers resist and show typical English pluck and bring the home guard and the regular army down on the Germans. The opening narrative starts in the village churchyard with the narrator looking at a simply cross which he suggests is the only piece of England that the Germans took. Well worth watching.

Big Trouble in Little China

John Carpenter's cult classic starring Kurt Russel and Kim Cattral and James Hong. Well worth watching if only for the action scenes. Set in Little China the China Town of San Francisco it centres around the Green Eyed girl and Lo Pan a Chinese sorcerer who was cursed by the first emperor of China to wander the earth until he marries her. A mix of Chinese martial arts and western heroic genres.

Mermaids, starring Cher, Bob Hoskins, Winona Rider, is a movie about a perpetually moving family that comes to a town near to Boston, on the coast. Cher has had a succession of husbands and boyfriends who she has had a series of children with. She falls in with Hoskins who runs a small shoe shop in town. She gets a job as a legal secretary, which she hates. They move into a house on a lake with a convent their neighbours. Hoskin's reminds me what a good actor he was. I've watched him since Pennies from Heaven and he effortlessly excels. Well worth watching. 9 out of 10.

I'd forgotten about this movie (based on a book).

There's a remake with Will Smith - 'I Am Legend'

Alive among the lifeless... alone among the crawling creatures of evil that make the night hideous with their inhuman craving!
It is three years since a plague either killed everyone on earth or turned them into zombies. Dr. Robert Morgan is the sole survivor and lives a perilous existence where at night the zombies attack his house and during the day he seeks out zombies and kills them. The monotony and isolation of his existence is getting to him - is there any point to all this?

Summerland is a 2020 British drama film written and directed by Jessica Swale, starring Gemma Arterton, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Lucas Bond, Dixie Egerickx, Siân Phillips, Penelope Wilton and Tom Courtenay. Arterton excels as a reclusive academic writer who has a young boy evacuated from London. She writes about myths and legends and their possible scientific explanations. The boy, Frank, turns out to be the son of Alice's girlfriend, Vera. His father dies in the war and Frank runs away, back to London. Alice chases him and discovers him outside his bombed out house. She convinces him to return with her. Vera turns up as well and confesses that she engineered his placement with her. Overall, a good movie, well worth watching. 8 out of 10. Cool

Horrible Histories: The Movie – Rotten Romans is a 2019 British historical comedy film directed by Dominic Brigstocke, based on the book series of the same name by author Terry Deary, and the television series of 2009 and 2015 on CBBC. The film production, of one of the stories, was announced in March 2016. The film is a co-production, between Altitude Film Entertainment, BBC Films and Citrus Films. It was released on 26 July 2019 to mixed reviews.

Nasically tells the story of Boadicea and the battle of Wattling Street under the Emperor Nero. Nero is a bit of a loser, ruled by his mother until she is assassinated on is orders. He is childish and vain. He condemns Sebastian Croft as Atti for selling him some Horse wee as a Gladiator's Sweat. He is sent to the most remote part of Rome - Britain and he is to serve in the legion there. He runs across Emilia Jones as Orla a would be Celtic warrior who knocks him out and takes him prisoner. They have various adventures and he finally manages to escape and meets up with Rupert Graves as Governor Suetonius Paulinus and devises the place to defeat Boadicea on Wattling Street. There is plenty of song and dance, A good movie to watch, 8 iut if 19. Cool
