I think it's more to do with our affluence leading to mediocre complacency, lack of virility due to rise in feminism and religious fundamentalist influence on public policy eg creationism that has delayed our progress to inhabit other planets/ moon etc.

In short degeneracy has handicapped our rise to full potential.

Actually. Celebrity President Ronald Reagan wanted the Moon to be turned into a giant 'Death Star' for his Star Wars dream. With a big gun on it pointed back at earth - everyone would be well under control, etc.

NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter (LRO) captured the sharpest images ever taken from space of the Apollo 12, 14 and 17 landing sites. Images show the twists and turns of the paths made when the astronauts explored the lunar surface.

The Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter was launched by NASA in 2009. The mission is returning approximately 70–100 terabytes of image data. It is expected that this photography will boost public acknowledgement of the validity of the landings, and further discredit Apollo conspiracy theories.

You know the thing the people were in survived re-entry, the lander was just that, a lander module. As for the different layers they travelled through, the time spent in them is the key, surely you have run your finger through a candles flame. It's not it's temperature but the time spent in it that matters.
