I cant remember Americans saving our arses when we kicked the Indos out of Timor. Didnt seem like the Asian peril was too eager to invade us either. I also seem top rememeber the Americans had a plan to cede Australia to the japanese in WW2 should they have invaded. Get a grip Dream boy.

Well we wouldn't be worth a crumpet if we couldn't handle a few rebels in East Timor without assistance from the US

Didnt seem like the Asian peril was too eager to invade us either. I also seem top rememeber the Americans had a plan to cede Australia to the japanese in WW2 should they have invaded.

We deserved to be invaded by the Japs. Our stupid govt failed to provide anti-aircraft defense in Darwin and the West coast. How many Jap bombings were there with hardly a plane shot down? Americans in Darwin had to move their submarine base to Fremantle, they were bewildered by the lack of anti-aircraft guns

The truth is that our stupid Parliament continued arguing about peace time domestic issues and neglected to do something much more important, prepare for war. They thought the Japs weren't capable of invading anything, had the worst equipment, and were cross-eyed

Paaahhhhlease......Australia kicked out an already withdrawing Indo occupational force.

Surely you jest.....why would the USA get it's hands soiled when all the Supreme Australian Defense Forces were simply quelling riots, minor disorders, & low-level fighting against an already departing Indo occupational force AFTER the Timorese had become Independent.

...........Australian Prime Minister Gough Whitlam told Indonesia that his government would not oppose an annexation of East Timor in 1975,[1] a decision that quickly proved controversial at home. In October 1975, Indonesian troops poured across East Timor's border with Indonesian West Timor at the town of Balibo. Among those killed by the advancing Indonesian troops were five Australia-based journalists, who came to be known as the Balibo Five. Many in Australia and elsewhere[2] were convinced that the murder of the unarmed reporters was intentional.[3] Australian support was criticised at times. Australia and Indonesia concluded several contracts about the boundary between Timor-Leste and Australia during occupation time, which is causing several quarrels between independent Timor-Leste and its bigger neighbour.[4]........

.........Australian Defence Force units arrived in East Timor in 1999 to quell the rioting, disorder and
low-level fighting
created by the Indonesian military's scorched earth campaign as it withdrew from its former possession in 1999
.[8] Australia led the INTERFET operation in 1999, and provided substantial forces to the subsequent United Nations Transitional Administration in East Timor and its successor operations. Australia also landed combat troops in the country in 2006 to quell ethnic fighting that involved East Timorese police and soldiers.[9] The last Australian peacekeeping forces left Timor-Leste in December 2012.

The Timor Leste Defence Force has received assistance with training, advice and other forms of support from the Australian Defence Force since 2001 as part of Australia's Defence Cooperation Program. As of 2015, 25 Australian military personnel were stationed in East Timor to deliver this assistance.[10][11]........

Admittedly we were fixing the mess thte Yanks put Timor Leste in when Ford and Kissinger told Suharto to go for his life in TImor Leste because he played them for fools by spinning the line Fretilin were Marxists

Strange how how we're talking about issues in Timor where guns were used. Rhino and other lefties would probably say: "It was necessary"

Here's yer history Rhino Labia-Lips:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1999_East_Timorese_crisis

The Supreme Australian Defense Forces didn't seem to have any more involvement than I previously mentioned.......

Quote:
Australian Defence Force units arrived in East Timor in 1999 to quell the rioting, disorder and low-level fighting created by the Indonesian military's scorched earth campaign as it withdrew from its former possession in 1999 [8]..........

The Indo's were already leaving.......

See here for the
EAST-TIMOR CRISIS
of 1999 (boy was that scary fer you guys huh)

US President Clinton's subtle remarks probably scared the bejisis outa them monkeys way more than the daunting "Supreme Australian Defense Force", scheduled to be sent in to play policeman, while the Indo's departed as they had already started to do before any Australian troops & Federal police arrived it seems......  And you wondered why the Americans didn't soil their hands over that traffic-jam...... ... ........ trivial matters are left to those that should be able to handle trivial matters such as these  ...

I guess that's why as I said Ford and Kissinger told Suharto to do what he wanted. Plus if we're such a soft-arse country, why don't you pack up your poo and piss off home.

Even though that was the second sentence in my statement. So literally that wasn't the first thing I went to.
