thanks agnes    not a good start to the season at all... the suburb of Kambah is on high alert and a friend who lives there their home backs right onto grassland...they were called home yesterday....I live in one of the worst hit suburbs in the last fires...  so its fingers crossed.we got the smoke and got the smell would be nerve wracking for those who lost someone in 2003......

we ended up with rain in a wild storm where the rain goes sideways   only lasted about 15 min....kinda weird.

Because it is simply not possible to do enough load reduction burns in heavily forested areas like Canberra. Also, fuel reduction burns have a nasty habit of turning into bush fires if the weather turns bad.

seriously barnicle   we have a green/labor govt in ACT.. and they see nothing wrong with knocking down huge tracks of trees  even to the Avenue of tree  known as Northbourne Ave  the entry to Canberra for many many years    for a light railway... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes   and in other parts of Canberra to accommodate developers....

getting rid of trees is not the slightest problem...

but if I wanted the one that overhangs my backyard  looks perilous in high wind... I am told to suck it up...we do not cut down trees... we are Green remember.....

if you could have seen the huge piles of shredded trees all parts of a forest  here there and everywhere in this town   you wouldnt be saying that.....

as they chop them down they shred them in the hope no one notices...

Hi Cods,
if you're worried you need to get an approved bush fire shelter:

Be careful of people selling non approved ones:

You silly old  fool cods this started miles away from the suburbs,

I am sure the govt does as much pre-summer burn offs as would be done by the Libs but there is only so much that can be done.

Keep the politics out of it is my advice!
