FRIENDS have laid tributes and gathered to remember their “funny and cheeky” mate Liam, after the 26-year-old son of rocker Angry Anderson died from a brutal attack in a Sydney park early this morning.

Mathew Flame, 20, was arrested at the scene and was expected to be charged with murder of Liam Anderson later on Sunday. Police have stressed that the two men knew each other and the incident, which occurred about 6am on Sunday, was not a random attack.

Residents said they heard moan of agony coming from the park for up to half an hour as they woke but assumed they were from people exercising in the popular beachside area.

When police arrived, it allegedly took several officers and the use of capsicum spray to pull Flame off Mr Anderson.


Angry Anderson, the lead singer of rock band Rose Tattoo, has four children.

His management company this afternoon requested privacy for the family as they come to grips with the tragedy.

“With the matter in the hands of NSW Police, the family will not be making any comment at this stage, nor are we as Anderson’s management in a position to offer any comment on their behalf,” spokesman Scot Crawford said.

I have made the death the fault of no-one.  I have no idea what happened, and neither do you.  What we do know is that the alleged killer is painted as a drug fuqed idiot.....and we know that the deceased is the Son of a long term drug fuqed idiot.

It would be reasonable to assume that Gary's son was exposed to lots of drugs during his childhood, and that he was probably a heavy drug user himself (influenced by his Dad?).

Nothing excuses this cowardly murder, though.

I know an ex-guitarist from Rose Tattoo who lives here in Perth, and I met Gary on a couple of occasions when visiting his house.

He's a bit of a dickhead, to tell the truth (and his political views are a bit extreme).

Still, no parent deserves to go through this.

VETERAN rocker Angry Anderson was hurting and “wanting answers” as he made the long, anguished flight home from Perth to prepare the funeral of his son yesterday.

The tragedy was all the more poignant given that Anderson had devoted so much of his own life to helping young people battle their demons after surviving his own addictions and a horrifying childhood of sexual abuse at the hands of a family friend.

The bald, inked-up frontman had credited the birth of the first of his four children for tempering his wild ways and ultimately saving his life.

Yesterday afternoon he returned from Western Australia, where he had been performing with Rose Tattoo on the rock band’s 40th anniversary national tour.

From what I've read, his drug use was cannabis and occasional heroin, and he's not touched them for many years. That aside, cannabis is the most innocuous of all drugs and even heroin if used sparingly is pretty harmless.

I have no idea why his past would be called into question as kids from all backgrounds experiment with drugs.

I reckon his kids at least would have a good understanding of drugs. When the times right, I'll honestly tell my kids about the drugs I've tried and which ones are more or less dangerous.

Anyway, why is an old pisshead how sinks VBs questioning his substance abuse?

Up until he had kids. No idea of his present alcohol consumption but looking at recent images of him, he's not doing what he did in his youth.
