So what happened?
I saw a horse pull up & the announcer said there was a tragedy.
Was a horse put down?

Yes.

Another horse has been killed in the name of human greed.

I don't support horse racing.

Using an animals meat for sustenance is one thing but not entertainment.

I'd rather see some of the slappers in ugly dresses do a lap of the track.

I have to admit I used to like it, e.g. love Winx, but I think the horses pay too much of a price for the greed of their owners. Even when they aren't racing they suffer. For example, I heard that Makybe Diva is basically a cripple these days because she was over raced.

How do these nags rate internationally.
How does Winx rate internationally, fair to middle I would say, still, good entertainment, I don't know how our multi cultural society feel about such events, gambling and drinking parties that stop a nation, the wogs don't mind but others would, like Muslims.

Ok, anyone with a brain wish to contribute?

I don't even think Phar lap did that well overseas, but still a hero horse around these parts.

The CliffsofMoher breaks down in 2018 Melbourne Cup with vets forced to euthanise star galloper

THE Melbourne Cup has been marred by the death of star UK galloper The CliffsofMoher.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained runner broke down just after crossing the post the first time — just 1000m after the start.

It’s believed The CliffsofMoher suffered a fractured right shoulder. Vets quickly attended to the Irish runner — ridden by star English jockey Ryan Moore — but nothing could be done to save the five-year-old stallion.

FINAL ORDER: WHERE EVERY RUNNER FINISHED

CROSS COUNTER WINS MELBOURNE CUP

Vets were forced to euthanise the stricken horse. Connections immediately knew the severity of the situation.

In a statement released by Victoria Racing, the sad news was confirmed.

“It is with sadness that we confirm that The Cliffsofmoher had to be humanely euthanised after sustaining a fractured right shoulder during the running of the Melbourne Cup at Flemington,” Executive General Manager Jamie Stier said.

“The horse received immediate veterinary care, however it was unable to be saved due to the nature of the injury sustained.

Not true -
they surround the horse with curtains &
shoot it right between the eyes.
The horse dies instantly.

Horse meat is ok, I don't know if I could eat my own horse though, then again if I was hungry enough with no McDonalds within cooee, perhaps.
