Not silly at all. When someone writes "invasion attempt", the "attempt" part determines that they were trying (and in this case, failed) to get into the United States.

They failed.

They didn't cross the border.

So, how are they "illegal aliens"?

Actually, come to think of it... The undocumented could have just drove up to the border and given the border security some line about whether this was "Nazi Germany" to answering the question about if the 'migrants' have any identification. Watched video after video of Americans being as recalcitrant as possible about answering if they were American citizens, simply to get through the border.
