Yes, the Sydney pitch always used to have some life, not this time.

Could not bat for schit.  (My shame is that I am probably one of very few who were bowled by Kim far king Hughes who tossed down 'off spin' meat pies.)  I had other endearing qualities.

An all rounder then, or a mascot!

All rounders can bat.  Mascots don't get a bat.

How many times must you be corrected Bobby?  No, to boxing, "rugby" and golf.

The Chappelli era had 'talent' but they had no class (mostly drunk and unprofessional) and thus were dominated by the Windies.
Then Kim Hughes cried because the Windies wouldn't let him win.
The Border grumpily 'took responsibility' for a team that didn't.

Then a 'miracle' happened!  Shocked
3 Players: Bruce Reid, Dean Jones & Greg Matthews 'dominated' the Windies and showed everyone how to Bowl, Bat and Field. Talent, Class and Charisma.
Then Taylor came along and made it all Professional and brought 'consistency' out of 'all' of his players.
Steve Waugh emerged as Dirk Wellhams protege and took charge of the 2nd Half of the Golden Era.

...then the curse struck. As Ponting was the last of the Golden Age, holding on to what was left for as long as he could - he was alone in a team that went down the dark path under a little puppy called 'Celebrity' Clarke who somehow got the nod without really doing anything spectacular on the field. Huh
It was all down hill from then on and Smith took over as Captain even though he he had absolutely no Leadership skills and could only look after himself with his bat.
Warner emerged as the Master of the Team instead - not that anyone argued with him about it, not even the 'weak' Captain.

Sadly now for the current Captain - he has a team of inconsistent performers, nil personality, nil talent and nil results. But hey, at least they get paid more money right. Wink
