In 2004, when the earthquake shook Indonesia in 2004, Australia sent out a tsunami warning to Indonesia. Indonesia's answer was to ignore it. "bugger you, round eye" basically.

*THUMP* Indonesia loses 100,000 citizens.

2018. Tsunami warning again. Naaaahhh. *THUMP* Indonesia loses hundreds more?

It was a landslide from a volcano so there was probably no seismic data to support a tsunami, so being Muslims they thought it was the Moon.

I am not really concerned with how it was caused, unless it was human created. But the fact that Indonesia has tsunami warnings with enough notification to have the most isolated of people know about a potential tsunami coming. The warnings just get ignored.

And if the US Geological Center wasn't closed (thanks to the F A T Orange man) there could have given ample warning this was going to happen.

Thanks, Rethuglicons

which ever way it goes PANIC would set in  I am sure they would have had some clear indication of this happening  I mean a Giant wave doesnt come from nowhere does it?.........even the vulcano doing its thing   comes with an indication something more so is happening....

we have so much techo these days to indicate the potential for this to happen...I think there is a stuff up somewhere

There was no warning because there was no seismic activity.

The volcano didn't look too far offshore and the wave didn't go too far inland, in daylight hours they may have seen it coming and could have made a run for it.
