Earth's climate has changed throughout history. Just in the last 650,000 years there have been seven cycles of glacial advance and retreat, with the abrupt end of the last ice age about 11,700 years ago marking the beginning of the modern climate era — and of human civilization. Most of these climate changes are attributed to very small variations in Earth’s orbit that change the amount of solar energy our planet receives.

Scientific evidence for warming of the climate system is unequivocal.
    - Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change

The current warming trend is of particular significance because it is unequivocally the result of human activity since the mid-20th century and proceeding at a rate that is unprecedented over millennia.1 It is undeniable that human activities have warmed the atmosphere, ocean, and land and that widespread and rapid changes in the atmosphere, ocean, cryosphere, and biosphere have occurred.

Earth-orbiting satellites and other technological advances have enabled scientists to see the big picture, collecting many different types of information about our planet and its climate on a global scale. This body of data, collected over many years, reveals the signals of a changing climate.

The heat-trapping nature of carbon dioxide and other gases was demonstrated in the mid-19th century.2 Their ability to affect the transfer of infrared energy through the atmosphere is the scientific basis of many instruments flown by NASA. There is no question that increased levels of greenhouse gases must cause Earth to warm in response.

Ice cores drawn from Greenland, Antarctica, and tropical mountain glaciers show that Earth’s climate responds to changes in greenhouse gas levels. Ancient evidence can also be found in tree rings, ocean sediments, coral reefs, and layers of sedimentary rocks. This ancient, or paleoclimate, evidence reveals that current warming is occurring roughly ten times faster than the average rate of ice-age-recovery warming. Carbon dioxide from human activity is increasing more than 250 times faster than it did from natural sources after the last Ice Age.3
The evidence for rapid climate change is compelling:

Yes and we (our leaders) all sit around talkng about it and we do SFA about it.

I blame the climate denier propaganda and short term interests of business who are resisting change to preserve their self interest..

We have perhaps the largest per capita use
of solar panels in the world.
We are doing something.

Nobel Prize in physics awarded to scientists
whose work warned the world of climate change

By Rob Picheta and Katie Hunt, CNN

Updated 1308 GMT (2108 HKT) October 5, 2021

(CNN)The Nobel Prize in physics has been awarded to scientists Syukuro Manabe, Klaus Hasselmann and Giorgio Parisi, whose groundbreaking work over the past 60 years predicted climate change and decoded complex physical systems.
Manabe, 90, and Hasselmann, 89, were jointly honored for "the physical modelling of Earth's climate, quantifying variability and reliably predicting global warming," according to the news release from the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
Both men carried out pioneering work in the 1960s and 1970s that sounded an early alarm on human-made climate change.

Italian physicist Parisi, 73, claimed the other half of the award, for "the discovery of the interplay of disorder and fluctuations in physical systems from atomic to planetary scales."

The trio were announced as winners at a news conference Tuesday in Stockholm, Sweden.

There are too many unknowns in the climate physics that's why the models are running hot.

"But as climate scientists face this alarming reality, the climate models that help them project the future have grown a little too alarmist. Many of the world’s leading models are now projecting warming rates that most scientists, including the modelmakers themselves, believe are implausibly fast. In advance of the U.N. report, scientists have scrambled to understand what went wrong and how to turn the models, which in other respects are more powerful and trustworthy than their predecessors, into useful guidance for policymakers. “It’s become clear over the last year or so that we can’t avoid this,” says Gavin Schmidt, director of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies. …"

Gavin Scmmidt is also a climate modeller.

The thing is -
the climate has always been changing.
Crops used to grow in Greenland -
now it's covered in ice.
How warm was it then?

The tree line is also much farther north than in the last 10,000 years. That's why they find those tree stumps.

It means it has been warmer in the last 10,000 years than now.

Then how can scientists say that it's warmer now than before?
It doesn't make sense to me.

It has been a while since I last posted here.

Are you still harping on about the next solar maximum being a non-event, Bobby? Was it you who predicted that it would flat-line?

Let's just simplify. The fallacy of oversimplification occurs when we attempt to make something appear simpler by ignoring certain relevant complexities. .

Quote:
There is already evidence from satellite imagery that the tundra beyond is becoming greener and shrubbier. Many scientists expect the tree line to advance eventually, and some studies purport to show that this is already happening. Some models predict that half the current tundra could be converted by 2100, though others say the process would be much slower. On the other hand, some studies assert the trees are actually retreating in areas, as heat dries forests, helping invasive insects and fires to destroy growing areas.

https://news.climate.columbia.edu/2016/11/16/where-trees-meet-tundra-decoding-si...

Let's just ignore what researchers are saying and come to our own cut and pasted opinions.  That way, we'll convince the gullible.
