Thats ok. They've found a planet full of water to exploit. So lets just drain this one dry.

https://clintel.org/world-climate-declaration/

There is no climate emergency
A global network of over 1100 scientists and professionals has prepared this urgent message. Climate science should be less political, while climate policies should be more scientific. Scientists should openly address uncertainties and exaggerations in their predictions of global warming, while politicians should dispassionately count the real costs as well as the imagined benefits of their policy measures.

Natural as well as anthropogenic factors cause warming

The geological archive reveals that Earth’s climate has varied as long as the planet has existed, with natural cold and warm phases. The Little Ice Age ended as recently as 1850. Therefore, it is no surprise that we now are experiencing a period of warming.

Warming is far slower than predicted

The world has warmed significantly less than predicted by IPCC on the basis of modeled anthropogenic forcing. The gap between the real world and the modeled world tells us that we are far from understanding climate change.

Climate policy relies on inadequate models

Climate models have many shortcomings and are not remotely plausible as global policy tools. They blow up the effect of greenhouse gases such as CO2. In addition, they ignore the fact that enriching the atmosphere with CO2 is beneficial.

CO2 is plant food, the basis of all life on Earth

CO2 is not a pollutant. It is essential to all life on Earth. Photosynthesis is a blessing. More CO2 is beneficial for nature, greening the Earth: additional CO2 in the air has promoted growth in global plant biomass. It is also good for agriculture, increasing the yields of crops worldwide.

Global warming has not increased natural disasters

There is no statistical evidence that global warming is intensifying hurricanes, floods, droughts and suchlike natural disasters, or making them more frequent. However, there is ample evidence that CO2-mitigation measures are as damaging as they are costly.

Climate policy must respect scientific and economic realities

There is no climate emergency. Therefore, there is no cause for panic and alarm. We strongly oppose the harmful and unrealistic net-zero CO2 policy proposed for 2050. If better approaches emerge, and they certainly will, we have ample time to reflect and re-adapt. The aim of global policy should be ‘prosperity for all’ by providing reliable and affordable energy at all times. In a prosperous society men and women are well educated, birthrates are low and people care about their environment.

Epilogue

The World Climate Declaration (WCD) has brought a large variety of competent scientists together from all over the world*. The considerable knowledge and experience of this group is indispensable in reaching a balanced, dispassionate and competent view of climate change.

From now onward the group is going to function as “Global Climate Intelligence Group”. The CLINTEL Group will give solicited and unsolicited advice on climate change and energy transition to governments and companies worldwide.

* It is not the number of experts but the quality of arguments that counts.

Maybe; but today Pakistan is being washed away as daily rainfall totals reach 1100mms..... on top of:

"14 July 2022 — Sindh received 625% more rainfall than the 30-year average while Balochistan received 501% more rainfall".

Quote:
The aim of global policy should be ‘prosperity for all’ by providing reliable and affordable energy at all times. In a prosperous society men and women are well educated, birthrates are low and people care about their environment.

Frauds......how can global policy achieve that, when private energy cartels are seeking to maximize their profits?

The next 6 months, with Europe entering winter, might force some clear thinking on the subject of  "reliable and affordable energy at all times". Obviously energy should be a public good, not a private money-extortion racket.

Yes, and it would help if the experts are not neoliberal privatization frauds - regardless of whether energy is produced by fossils or renewables.

You do know about averages don't you. Some wetter some drier gives an average.

"In what appeared to be among the most disastrous monsoon spells in six decades, Sindh and Balochistan are witnessing the heaviest rainfall since 1961, as the two provinces recorded 522 and 469 per cent, more than the normal downpour this year, respectively."

https://www.paksahafat.com/en/pakistan/balochistan-sindh-see-more-rain-than-ever...

There also appear to be no records prior to 1931 and the data from Pakistan shows no high for 1961 a mere 84mm. Even August 1916 shows 154mm.

https://opendata.com.pk/dataset/rainfall-in-pakistan

Edit1: But then of course SIndh is a province of 54,407 square miles. Roll Eyes

Well......yes but they will have some opposition:

https://www.lse.ac.uk/granthaminstitute/news/countering-bogus-climate-claims-mad...

Countering bogus climate claims made on British television
26 August, 2022

Bob Ward counters inaccurate and misleading claims questioning the scientific consensus on climate change made recently by Brian Catt on GB News and Talk TV.

Every reputable scientific organisation in the world agrees that climate change is real and is being driven by human activities, primarily emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. Yet two of the UK’s newest television stations, GB News and Talk TV, which target viewers at the fringes of the political spectrum, are misleading their audiences by promoting climate change denial. And they have now found a new champion, Brian Catt, to join Donald Trump and other extremists in publicly dismissing almost 200 years of accumulated scientific evidence.

........

In summary, Mr Catt’s dearth of knowledge and understanding of climate change, which is understandable given his lack of relevant training and qualifications, has served to mislead unfortunate viewers of Mr Tice’s programme. Mr Tice is a politician and not a journalist, so was apparently unable or unwilling to critically challenge Mr Catt’s false claims.

Bob Ward? Grin Grin Grin Grin

"Ward has made a habit of making vexatious complaints about articles, which don’t kowtow to his extreme views on climate. His aim is to discourage editors from publishing such views because of the hassle they will face.

I gather that Ward has lost every complaint made against Booker over the years, except for one minor technical point.

I have been fully involved in rebutting the last three, including this latest one. It was only a few months ago that his previous complaint against Booker was thrown out. That was the article which correctly claimed the US had experienced some exceptionally cold winters in recent years.

Following his latest loss, Ward has written this characteristically rambling, incoherent rant, demanding that IPSO change their rules: […]
Threat to the press

Ward rambles on about the “error–filled” online version, but he has failed to actually convince IPSO that there were any errors at all. After all that is IPSO’s job, to ensure factual accuracy.

He calls for IPSO to use “expert advice” in future, but which experts? The Met Office, or sceptics like Judith Curry and John Christy? Science is never settled. It would indeed be dangerous if we were to have only the officially approved version of science.

We can, of course, laugh at Bob Ward’s incompetence. But his attempt to interfere with IPSO’s independence has sinister overtones."

https://wattsupwiththat.com/2019/01/25/friday-funny-bob-ward-loses-again/

...

Yes, the number of major Atlantic hurricanes has increased in the last four decades, but this is because of the AMO, not climate change, as NOAA explain:

"How important is the AMO when it comes to hurricanes - in other words - is it one of the biggest drivers? Or Just a minor player?

During warm phases of the AMO, the numbers of tropical storms that mature into severe hurricanes is much greater than during cool phases, at least twice as many. Since the AMO switched to its warm phase around 1995, severe hurricanes have become much more frequent and this has led to a crisis in the insurance industry."

Yes I know about averages; and the 2022 rainfall average up to July for Sind was 625% higher than the 30 year average.

But today on radio I heard mention of 1100mm in a single day (which occurred yesterday) somewhere in Pakistan.

We have to find out whether that is the highest ever recorded in Pakistan.

meanwhile, you are content to belong to the list of neoliberal privatization frauds who are happy to see entire populations pauperized by private fossil-energy price gougers.

'nough said.

Yes. Averages. Now add that rainfall in and recalibrate.  Grin Grin Grin Grin

620 mm in 10 hours now if we average that over 24 hours (your preferred statistics) that would be 1488MM. Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Yes somewhere.

But re the fossil industry itself: today there is a call to ban old trucks from Sydney and Melbourne because they spew 50% more toxic (cancer causing) oxides of nitrogen and particulate matter capable of entering the bloodstream.

So I say we kill two birds with one stone: get rid of the filthy fossil industry, and transition to free energy from sun and wind, financed by the BIS.

Oh ...and BIS can also fund catastrophe intervention required in Pakistan,  regardless of what caused it, rather than Pakistan being forced to beg for money from governments who themselves are forced to beg for money from the greedy private sector (that's you and me) via taxes which no-one wants to pay, or borrowing which has to be repaid with interest  to greedy private financiers.

But your evil survival of the fittest ideology will  see thousands of Pakistani children perish from hunger and disease in the next couple of months, even as  thousands of children in  Chad starve to death as a result of a decade long drought there.

We can see what Pascal meant by "Man...a sewer of error, and the refuse of the universe".

All this while building a permanent outpost on the moon....

Pity you don't listen to the news. Especially those produced before 1996, when there were no pollution standards, but also up to 2003,  when only minimum standards applied.

Even today Oz's current Euro 5 regulations  are significantly  below Euro 6 standards re NOx etc.
