Madeleine Albright: “500,000 Dead Iraqi Children Was Worth It”

Sometimes Genocide Is OK…
It just depends who is in office at the moment.

Here is a much forgotten exchange between Lesley Stahl and Madeleine Albright on “60 Minutes” back on May 12, 1996 that is not getting much play lately:

Lesley Stahl on U.S. sanctions against Iraq: We have heard that a half million children have died. I mean, that’s more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?

Secretary of State Madeleine Albright: I think this is a very hard choice, but the price–we think the price is worth it.

t’s worth noting that on 60 Minutes, Albright made no attempt to deny the figure given by Stahl–a rough rendering of the preliminary estimate in a 1995 U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) report that 567,000 Iraqi children under the age of five had died as a result of the sanctions.

She did cop a lot of flak for that, and to be fair, she did come out years later and said she regreted saying it. Clearly there are more diplomatic ways of making the case for genocide - without so obviously showing that you are making the case for genocide. Western leaders are usually quite masterful at this diplomatic skill.

Outlawing the enemy's uniform - hijab, islamic beard - is not depriving one's own people of their freedoms.

Whereas after moslems commit a genocide,      their regimes simply deny that it ever happened.

And threaten to kill 'disappear' people [within their power] who do continue to mention it.

WWW search....
Armenian genocide.
