Yeah - a broken condom is a terrible crime.....

The charge against him on that was withdrawn ?

Now he is going to face some retrospective deportation attempt.

Why? He was only showing the world what our lying deceitful govts get up to.

No, he went well beyond that. He sought to destabilise international relations. For example, his releasing classified memo's that served no purpose other than feed his ego and embarrass governments. Then we had his leaks that put lives in danger

Gnads wrote on Apr 12th, 2019 at 9:32pm:
Julie Bishop threw him under the bus twice..... yet politicians and no doubt you are prepared to have terrorist IS fighters and their jihadi brides and offspring come back to Australia.

Surely on that basis Assange as an Australian deserves to be brought back here and not be threatened to be extridicted to the US by the Uk .... two foreign govts deciding what happens to one of our own citizens.

You probably wanted the Aussie drug runners who were executed in Malaysia and Indonesia bought home too.

No, i was happy for the Bali 9 and Corby to rot in Indonesia's jails, just as I'm happy to have Isis fighters stay in whatever poo hole they ran to (not the same for innocent kids who were dragged along). You're so caught up in the 'exposing the govt's lies' bullshit that you're willing to accept anything as long as every now and then a lie is exposed. That's just the sort of justification these lying politiicans use when they lie to you.

" he sought to destabilise international relations" ?

Something that the US has been actively doing for decades for its own advantage.

It's not just one lie..... it's a continuous litany of lies and deceit...

But you know what his motives were of course....

That's ok .... keep people in the dark and alls well.

You want to compare Assange to a sovereign state?  Cheesy Cheesy

I never said Assange lied just once.

I don't claim to know his motives, only my opinion of what I think his motives are. You on the other hand pretend to know he was being altruistic.

From hatred to love to cold indifference: Trump's changing tune on WikiLeaks

When Donald Trump was in Ohio, he declared: “Boy, I love reading WikiLeaks.” In Michigan, he proclaimed: “This WikiLeaks is like a treasure trove.” In Pennsylvania, he confessed: “WikiLeaks, I love WikiLeaks.”

It was the run-up to the 2016 presidential election and Trump was WikiLeaks’ number one salesman. But on Thursday, with the website’s founder Julian Assange under arrest, the US president was singing a different tune. “I know nothing about WikiLeaks,” Trump said. “It’s not my thing.”

The jarring shift illustrated, critics say, the shameless opportunism and hypocrisy of president. Whether it hints at anything about his alleged links to Russia remains altogether murkier.

Sometimes the Sep's care deeply about the first amendment - other times not so much.

Watch the Panther come out swinging is support of Assange any minute now, well maybe not so much.

I wonder how much dirt Wikileaks has hidden away -
ready to release it if Assange was ever arrested?

Should be some interesting news stories soon.  Smiley

You seem to think he had the capability to do what the US does.... not me.

What gives the US as a sovereign state a right to operate outside the borders of their sovereignty ..... in someone else's sovereignty?

I didn't say Asssange was lying or deceitful the inference was the US and western govts were and have been for decades..... so why say you never said he lied once?

And how do you know he wasn't being altruistic?

And of what benefit was any of what's transpired in the Assange
/Wikileaks case for any citizens of any of govts involved?

Seems it's all about payback for the US to save face for their security orgs who got caught with their pants down.... and a few others who shown up for the criminal scum they are.
