If she had done so and risked her entrance into heaven because of it, as a caring father you would want to know so you can help guide her back to the path whether she was blood-related or not. 

But Light, as a forum troll or sexual deviant himself, he only read that comment to mean something very specific, something it turns out quite fortuitously, he could use to attack someone else, so much so that he refocused the thread to include a poll (quoted above) to mislead again about the new target of his hate, in the likeness of,
