gotta say

this is interesting

about bloody time they got riled

and good on them

Good work from people who stand up
for the right of free speech.

There is such a thing as an illegal contract.
It's amazing that our resident lawyer
didn't point that out.
Examples:
To pay a penalty for breaking a contract
by having a pound of flesh cut off from your body.

For a husband to cut his wife out of a Will
and give everything to the dogs home.

The court may decide that to remove
someone's free speech is also illegal.

Interesting observation.

Employment contract lawyers are now saying that code of conduct clauses are becoming too all encompassing and going into areas they have no right.

If you don't like the contract a burger chain offers you can go to another burger chain.

If you're a top rugby union player there are no other choices.

Rugby Australia is going to be shredded in court.

Other than France, the UK, Japan, NZ

He wants to play international rugby for the country he was born in.

Is there another Australia?

Thanks Gordon,
All companies are putting far more
fine print into contracts these days.
They want to own your soul.

As far as I know, no companies are holding a gun to people's heads in order to make them sign, or stay.

Don't like the contract? Walk away.

Folau said --- and it's on record

that if thieves, liars, fornicators, adolaters, drunks, etc. do not repent and turn to God

they will go to Hell

which they will, according to the Bible which in turn is based in much older beliefs

this is not a gay issue

anymore than it's a drunk issue

an adulterer issue

an idolator issue

a liar issue

etc.

Appears those who're donating to Folau are the only ones aware of what he said -- from where he drew it -- and what it means

Folau is being defamed

yet he's merely the messenger

For Cods.

Right when the story first broke the pink mafia were gunning for his wife but her team mates and other NZ netballers straight and gay all backed her and said she's never shown discrimination to any player.

Plus as well this ios a guy so desperately keen to play international rugby union for his country, that he played rugby league til he was 21, then was so desperate to play international rugby union at 21, that he signed a 4 year contract to play AFL, then turned out to be so bad at that that he went to the only sport capable of paying him big money at the time, that being union.

Spare me, this has zero to do with the honour of playing for the Wallabies and all about the multimillion dollar contracts he's on.

To be suspected is that mainstream media and what it represents is attempting to mislead

idolatry, for example

that was mentioned by Folau as reason to repent and turn to God

Idolatry was covered extensively in the Bible

'golden calf' for example

worship of many gods, leading the people astray

Idolatry exists today in the form of 'celebrities', of 'influencers', pop stars, movies stars, billionaires and a raft of others, all of whom are promoted and in fact created by the mainstream media

Folau, as a messenger of his beliefs was warning idolators to turn to the true God and repent their worship/obsession with false gods

Political parties could be described as false gods -- the slavish support and defence in which many engage, as they do with sports stars and teams

Folau said to keep your eye on the ball -- you might have fallen by the wayside but God will forgive and accept if you repent and turn your face to Him

Folau said nothing different to what most clergy preach and have preached to congregations

Don't lie

Don't steal

Don't bear false witness

etc

good advice for anyone hoping to tread their path through this life and plane with teh least damage to themselves and their eternal soul

Because the coach said they wouldn't play him regardless of his contract and we sue for money in lieu of many kinds of loss.

I'm guessing the other strong Christian in the team wouldn't  exactly get along with him.

Really, I thought just don't be arseholes to others would be fine enough.

That would be open to interpretation

Everyone might decide to jettison this part and include something else

In any case, it's covered under: 'Do unto othes are you would have others do unto you'

A drunk for example, might choose to decide that his drinking to excess 'isn't hurting anyone'

oh no?  And when he drives into that happy family returning from a family party and kills them all --- what then for his interpretation of what the Bible says God means?

The druggie might decide his drugs are his business and everyone else should butt out.  So when he goes mental, breaks into a home and kills in order to get money for 'his own business' drug habit --- what then?  He's made others pay for his addiction in the same way the drunk did

How about when people beg the judge to take into account that they were under the influence of drugs/drink when they stabbed a stranger who was simply on his way to work?  Who paid for the druggie-drunkard's addiction and why should anyone have to pay for his addiction, let alone pay with their life?

That's why -- when people are dicing with their eternal soul -- they wish they'd considered others, followed the few rules.  Yet even when they've stuffed up badly, they're still offered a hand by God, who simply needs for them to truly repent and accept they were wrong

they might have believed they were 'not being arseholes to others' -- but they were

and others paid for the fact they were arseholes

and if they want to remain arseholes and go to hell when their body quits on them --- fine. Let 'em

You do realise that means he is hurting someone. If he drinks at home, never leaves home, never drink drives, never bashes anyone, is he hurting anyone?

Who are we talking about --- the responsible drinker who knows when he's had enough?  Or the habitual drunk who drinks to excess at every opportunity, drinks on the job, does a bad job, blames someone else, skates by until finally he's sacked and then the house is in arrears and his family have to leave and live a life of uncertainty and poverty, shame etc. while the drunk somehow manages to steal or withhold some welfare money in order to slurp some more on his alcohol-god/

If you object to drinking as an example, we could instead discuss the habitual, compulsive gambler who keeps his family/himself in poverty because he can't cast off his gambling-god no matter how low that gambling-god drags him down the sewer via theft, embezzlement, etc

The shoplifting-god, the gluttony-god, the spite-god, the god-of-lies, the god-of-boasting, the god-of-maliciousness, etc.

false gods there to destroy not only the life of the fallen but also those with whom they're associated

the false-gods are there to destroy and keep the fallen away from God and eternal salvation

false-gods are everywhere

mobile phones are false gods

porn is a false god

Self-love is a false god

false gods everywhere, to distract until it's too late

pride -- a big false god.  And it's pride which caused the demonisation of Folau --- all those who believe they or their family member is too important to repent to save themselves

Why should we repent, they ask.  We make up our own minds about what is right and wrong.  No one tells us what to do

ok.  let them have it their way.  Only God actually cares what happens to them -- and of course, so does Folau in this instance
