he wasn't sacked for his religious opinion, he was sacked for posting that opinion on social media in breech of the code of conduct he agreed to

It's "religion or political opinion."

Two separate things:

1. religion

2. political opinion

Bobby is interpreting it as "religious opinion or political opinion".

The word used is "religion", not "religious".
