Forum still won't trust me to post links or images.
They must have heard the Eloonites claiming I am a lunatic!

If you look up hashtag whompywheels you will find many images of whompy wheels and broken suspension links.

To save weight and maintain the all important planet saving insane/ludicrous acceleration Tesla makes the suspension links out of low quality cast or even EXTRUDED aluminium which has the grain structure running crossways.
The results are predictable! Cry

It has not been in a collision, no air-bags have deployed. The front suspension has snapped apart. The cast alloy lower suspension arm has broken in half. This is clear evidence of a casting defect. It is most interesting that the high profile legal action over a suspension failure -

has now been settled out of court. There is absolutely certainly a systemic problem with the suspension components in all models of Tesla cars and it is outrageous that they are allowed to sweep the problem under the rug. Here is a 2018 Model X in the junkyard. copart/lot/61359249/Photos The front of it is badly smashed in and all of the front end damage can be explained as being the result of the crash. BUT! Why is the back wheel whompy? It is highly likely that the back wheel going spontaneously whompy CAUSED the crash. Surely this is blindingly obvious. Please investigate Thank you. Keef

Here is a 2019 Model 3 in the junkyard. LINK DELETED
Not in a crash, no air-bags deployed, no significant damage to the bodywork. The top ball joint on the driver's side has simply popped apart causing the wheel to flop over at a crazy angle. This exact same failure in which a suspension ball joint pops apart has been reported on many other Teslas including Model 3, S and X. A similar failure on Hyundai cars resulted in NHTSA issuing a mandatory recall. ** October 9, 2019 NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V721000Lower Control Arm Ball Joints Can Detach A detached ball joint can cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.** Can you offer any explanation for why Teslas have not been issued a similar recall notice?
