I'm as shocked as you are.

I've even tried to initiate discussion about it, but some people think it's just "comedic".

If I saw a kid in a car, alone, I'd be waiting nearby until the parents arrived, or checking on the car every ten minutes (at least).

I wouldn't walk past a dog left in a car, so there's no way I'd not follow up on two children left on their own in a vehicle.

Some of the neighbours seem to think leaving flowers and soft toys on the fence will make up for their apathy.

What about the thoughts and prayers?

The neighbour may have been on the way to work when they noticed

I would have been late for work.

So would cods.

I doubt the kids were druggies.

What are the teddies for, by the way?

And the flowers?

You're a fargin hero - you don't know what the situation was.

You're simply being a fargwit with the remark about the kids not being druggies....... did they actually know where the mother was? She's the druggie .... druggies can be very reactive & violent towards people interferring, especially when they're high/wasted.

And don't hang the flowers & teddies bs on me. I never mentioned them.

It's not a disgrace .... or should I say those that work there are not a disgrace.

They are & I must of said it a few times since this happened & people started pointing fingers at everyone else they can ....

understaffed, under resourced, overworked & have one of the highest burn out rates & staff turnovers of any govt. sector

there are literally thousands of children/cases similar to this that they have to try & monitor & make calls on.

They are damned when they do & damned when they don't.

It's obvious when you see/hear what her friends have said about her being a "great" mum & that the kids weren't neglected.

She's is the one to blame for this situation & she should be locked up for a long time .....

but I'll bet a claim of mental health issues comes into play to try & get her off or placed into a unit where she will do some rehab time & then be let loose.

If I passed a car on the way to work, and there were two kids in it unattended, I would delay my journey to work.

Any decent person would.

How would you see the kids in a car in a front yard?

Are you a nosey parker checking out houses as you drive by?

Keep your eyes on the road dickhead you'll cause an accident.  Roll Eyes

Somebody did.

And they decided to do nothing.

Now, two kids are dead.

The neighbours seem to think that flowers and soft toys will make it all okay though.

Who are the toys for, by the way - the dead kids?

How are they gonna play with them?

What about the flowers - who are they for - the mother?

How is she expected to see them from her prison cell?

...

Yeah neighbours ... not SJW Peccarhead driving past.

Stop blaming the neighbours you arsehole.

It's all the responsibility of the derelict mother.

Oh yeah ... I never mentioned anything about flowers or toys doing anything in any of my comments.

So you can redirect that to whom ever you were discussing that with prior to you switching it to me.

I'm not blaming anyone.

I'm merely stating the facts.

A neighbour saw the kids alone in the car, and did nothing.

I would have done something.

The neighbour may have seen them on his/her way to work and just assumed, at that time of day, they were going somewhere with mother or whatever, who was on the way out from the house...  it's not like they stood there for fifteen minutes and thought - "Gee - something wrong here."

Sadly a one and two year old would hardly know how to get out of restraints let alone open doors... and if nobody heard their cries...  I always take a look if I hear a child outside somewhere... old busybody...

Yep, quite possible.

Although, I'm not sure how many people in her street would have jobs.

On his/her way to their dealer, maybe.

Anyway, the soft toys - what's that all about?

I'm genuinely curious about it.

Why are people leaving soft toys on their fence?

You haven't seen that response before?

You haven't seen roadside memorials to crash victims?

Is your life that cloistered?
