See what goes on in the muslim community Cods? if we can believe what this bloke says, it means other muslim boys who belong to the muslim community, talk about carrying out terrorist attacks against Aussies in the street or where ever

Revoking citizenship would be a better idea for all those seditious mongrels who talk about terrorist attacks, and for those trying to carry them out

Second offence draws higher penalty - the 22 year boy was on first offence... leniency applied...

I doubt he'll re-offend in the next twenty years or so... unless the Slopes or the Koonies on the inside get him with a shiv or something...

Trio jailed for plotting Christmas terrorist attack in Melbourne's Federation Square

Three men have been jailed for planning to use machetes and improvised bombs to carry out a terrorist attack in Melbourne's CBD during the 2016 Christmas period.

Key points:

.Justice Christopher Beale said the "stupidity" of the ideology behind the attack "was matched only by its malevolence"
. Abdullah Chaarani and Ahmed Mohamed were jailed for 38 years for what is the pair's second terrorism conviction
. Hamza Abbas, who was to wear an explosive vest in the attack, was jailed for 22 years

A lengthy trial heard the men had purchased machetes as well as metal pipes, light globes and batteries to make explosives and had tried to obtain guns as they planned to attack people at Federation Square.

Abdullah Chaarani, 29, and Ahmed Mohamed, 27, were each jailed for 38 years, with a non-parole period of 28 years.

The third man sentenced today, 24-year-old Hamza Abbas, was jailed for 22 years, with a non-parole period of 16 years and six months.

In sentencing, Supreme Court Justice Christopher Beale described the plot as "an assault on the fundamental values of our society".

Justice Beale said the three men had embraced Islamic State ideology and believed the planned attack would be pleasing to Allah.

"The stupidity of that belief was matched only by its malevolence," he said.

He said he accepted the three men were on the path to deradicalisation and had reasonable prospects of rehabilitation.

The plot is the second terrorism conviction for Chaarani and Mohamed, who are already serving 22-year prison terms for setting fire to a Shia mosque in Melbourne's north just a few weeks before the planned attack.

Hamza Abbas's brother Ibrahim Abbas was the key witness in the case, claiming to be the group's ringleader.

Last year, he was sentenced to 24 years in prison for leading the plan, which included putting an explosive vest on his brother Hamza.
Father told plotter 'you are not my son'

The sentencing of the trio has taken place more than a year after they were found guilty by a jury.

It was delayed by the trial in which Mohamed and Chaarani were convicted of terrorism offences for torching the Fawkner mosque.

That crime was described by the sentencing judge as "an attack on religious freedom" motivated by "the evil ideology" of the Islamic State (IS) group, also known as ISIS.

During a plea hearing before Justice Beale last month, Mohamed and Chaarani sought to convince the court that they had turned their backs on IS and had been on a path to deradicalisation since their arrest in December 2016.

Despite maintaining their innocence through both trials, the men took the unusual move of giving evidence during the plea hearing, admitting to the crimes.

Chaarani told the court: "I renounce violent jihad. I renounce ISIS. I renounce extremist ideology."

He told the court of being visited by his father in prison in the months after he was arrested in late 2016.

His father told him "you've embarrassed me. You've shocked me. You are not my son," the court heard.

Mohamed told the court he also denounced radicalism and IS, saying he took part in the plot because: "I wanted to make bombs. I thought they (IS) were cool."

He told the court he felt pressured by other Muslim boys when they talked about carrying out terrorist acts.

"I felt chicken to say 'I don't want to do it'," he said.

Hamza Abbas's lawyer had told the court her client played a lesser role in the plot, and was not fully aware of the plan.

There won't be much left of the qur'an, as the majority of it is in the *evil ideology* classification.

Should be 38 years on a desert island with vicious sharks in the water, and then deportation.

Surely there is a clause that says a person's citizenship can be canceled even if they were born here, and they can be thrown out stateless to search for kindred spirits where they would apparently love to be anyway???

Give 'em a shirt, shorts and hat, and turn 'em loose in the New Noweto up north that the Aborigines demand... see if they can survive while being hunted by angry Indigenes...

You could be onto something with that idea of employing China to de-radicalise them...

Again - why does any sane government continue to import them in large numbers, KNOWING what the results will be? As for the apologists - kindly apply labels on radical and nice Muslims at the airport for us - tattoo their foreheads, so we can see the difference...

Poor Fellow - My Country, under the idiots who've 'lead' it for the past forty years or so - and that's being kind.... and look at it now... every arsehole well insulated by public funding for life has all these wonderful ideas on how to run the show and see it run, knowing full well that NO dire consequence will ever fall on THEM personally..... only the peasants who never had the wherewithal to grow into such a fine position in life (undeserving lot of losers) will suffer.

And that, my children is what passes for 'service to the people and the nation' .....

Boot the bloody lot and start again... and take their lifetime perks from them for their failures....
