Gladstone Ghost Sighted by Police
Jan 2nd, 2020 at 4:19am

Reportedly there exists a ghost near Gladstone, Queensland.  She's been seen by police and ambulance in addition to numerous witnesses apparently, and months or years apart

Mostly, the ghost is described as a young woman who looks 'desperate, broken', and has pale blonde hair

Quote:
Officers went to investigate the reports at 8.30pm and confirmed they had seen the woman, but by the time they turned their car around, she had disappeared.
Nick Drew said he was travelling from Gladstone to Tannum Sands at about 9.15pm, and saw a woman about 300m past the go-kart track turn-off on the left-hand side.
"The ute travelling in front of us slammed on his brakes and we also put ours on hard," Mr Drew said.
"When we got closer I was expecting to see a kangaroo on the side on the road or something similar to make the guy slow down, but when we got a little closer there was a lady in all dark clothing trying to wave cars down, yelling."
The manager of a business in the area said the woman that was seen on Saturday night was real.
"We were working that night and she tried to get into one of our driver's trucks," he said.
"She opened the door and the driver told her to go away."
Gladstone-Benaraby Rd was reopened at 9.15pm on Saturday, and 20 minutes later ambulance officers reported seeing a woman matching the description, once again wandering across the same road.
A patrol was sent back but did not find the woman [quote]

[quote]UPDATE MONDAY: Gladstone residents have shared their stories about a mystery woman walking the highway, after police spent hours searching for one on Saturday night.

Gladstone woman Karli Hobley said 12 months ago she was driving to Tannum Sands with her mum and saw a woman staggering down the same road at 2am

"I didn't see her face because she was walking the same way we were driving," Ms Hobley said.
"But she had her knees bent in. It looked painful. The way she was walking I thought she was drunk.
"We stopped to see if she needed help, but she had already disappeared.

"I remember it was about a year ago because it was a few weeks after my 18th birthday and I just turned 19.
"We stopped on the way back too, but we still couldn't find anyone."
Acting Sergeant Andrea Campagnolo said it was a strange situation and she was surprised at how quickly the woman had disappeared.
She said, whatever the case, the dark and winding road with no path or shoulder was not a safe place to be walking.
"It's really important that people are wearing high-visibility clothing when they are walking along the road," Acting Sgt Campagnolo said.
"And just use common sense. Don't go walking alone in dangerous places, especially for females."

ANOTHER driver has had a ghostly experience along Gladstone Benaraby Rd, following a sighting in March in which police were called.
A woman yesterday posted on a number of local Facebook pages, saying she had been driving from Tannum Sands to Gladstone just before 11am.
"On the corner just before boat ramp I saw a woman, dark hair, white shirt, black bottoms on side of road," she wrote.

"As I got closer she disappeared. I was trying to look for her and heard swishing noises against the back of my seat.
"As I looked in my rear vision mirror, I saw a figure in my back seat.

"I swerved as it gave me a huge fright, and I apologise to any oncoming traffic, but I pulled over quickly to check and rang a girlfriend in panic as I was not sure what I had just witnessed.
"This scared me a lot and I'm still a bit shaky."
On March 21, Gladstone-Benaraby Rd was shut for almost half an hour after police received mysterious reports of a woman wandering across the road.
One driver said they almost ran the woman over and another said she had been crying and walking erratically up the road.
The officers confirmed they had seen the woman, but by the time the car had u-turned she had disappeared.
Other Gladstone residents shared similar stories after the incident.

A former resident shared her story of a ghostly sighting along the road in 2003, which still sends shivers down the spine of her and the friend she was with at the time.
"We saw a woman standing beside the road and wondered what she was doing," the former resident said.
"We wondered if we should stop, but we were too scared. We called the cops and reported it straight away.
"It was really eerie. That's why we didn't stop.
"She looked real. We thought it was a person, but something about her, we knew wasn't right."

THE sighting of a mystery woman on Gladstone-Benarby Rd on Saturday night is giving people goosebumps hundreds of kilometres away.
And a second story about a sighting in 2003 has deepened the feeling, with the description of a woman seen then being similar to the description of a girl who lost her life along the stretch of road in the early 1990s.
The girl was driving along the road and lost control of her car, crashing off the side of the road and losing her life.

It's believed the steering wheel crushed her chest, and she lost a leg.
Her sister, who now lives in Far North Queensland, contacted The Observer for more details after seeing a link to the initial story on Facebook.
"It's very coincidental," the woman said. "It's the anniversary of my sister's death next week."
The woman's sister was 20 when she died, and had mid-length, layered blonde hair.
The crash happened between the Boyne Island turn-off and Gladstone.
The woman involved in the 2003 sighting described what she'd seen as being a "woman with blondey, silvery, mid-length hair. Lots of layers in the hair".
"It's very interesting. It's giving me goosebumps," the sister said.
"I believe there are other things out there, but I don't usually get goosebumps and that prickly feeling. I'm getting them now.
"It may be all just a coincidence, but for someone to come forward after all this time, it must have made an impact on them.
"For me, it's just the coincidence of the location and timing."

he said the woman later appeared in her car.
Bundaberg readers also shared their eerie ecounters on Facebook after reading the woman's story.
Lisa Macleod said she was driving to Brisbane about two years ago when she saw something strange.
"My husband and I saw something on the way to Brisbane around two years ago, about 10pm the other side of Gin Gin," she said.

"There was an oncoming truck, a man appeared in the middle of the road, looked at us then he was on the side of the road looking into the bush.
"He had Stubby shorts, a flanno shirt, thongs dark hair and a moustache."
Ms Macleod said it was then that the man vanished into thin air.
"There were no cars on the side of the road, no houses," she said.
"We both seen him, we both got shivers when we passed him and looked back he was gone."

Dell Holdings remembered seeing an old fashioned man on a lonely NSW road.
"I had one in my 20s in NSW... the back road from Nowra, a ghostly figure was walking on the side of the road in a 1930s pin stripe suit with a paper under his arm and a hat on," she said.
"When we got closer the headlights shone through him, he was transparent.
"Me and my friend in the car just shuddered and said 'did you see that man?'."
She said the man disappeared.
"We both agreed and went quiet as he was not in the rear view mirror, he had just disappeared," she said.
Others said they had been followed by a mysterious motorcycle light on the Bundaberg Ring Road, which seemed to follow them for some time before disappearing
