bullshit. It's actually difficult for most people to get a gun in Oz.... before you make a fool of yourself, notice I said difficult, not impossible.

In the US all they have to do is look in the 'for sale' section of their local newspaper ... no checks, no criminal history, no id ... just hand over the cash.

No good claiming the law doesn't allow criminals to have guns in the US when the law does nothing to prevent them buying guns in the first place.

Criminals actually have a hard time getting a gun in Australia.  It is why comparatively few crimes are committed with firearms.

Source from above:
Criminal use of handguns in Australia

Quote:
Conclusion

Despite apparently low ownership rates among the criminal community, handguns appear to be the firearm of choice for use in firearm-related crime in Australia. The combination of a concealable weapon with high firepower and large calibre has been cited in overseas research as influential factors for criminal handgun acquisition and use, and it can be assumed that these also attract local offenders.

From the available data, it can be surmised that handguns used to perpetrate crimes in Australia are usually illegal at the time of the crime. Surveys with police detainees also suggest that relatively informal transactions involving a family member or friend characterise the most common method of illegal handgun acquisition, with private sales and 'the street' as additional important sources. The origins of these handguns are less clear, although diversion and theft from legal owners may be primary avenues.

Source does not show any difficulty whatsoever in criminals having much difficulty in acquiring their firearms of choice to be used in crime........which therefor actually supports your opposition's position.  Grin

Also, even though the source states that the handgun has become the 'firearm of choice' for criminal activity involving firearms, it does not negate the fact that there are still ample firearms available & accessible for criminals to choose from, other than a present day firearm of choice, for use in criminal activity.......  Wink

Nice source.......
for our argument(s)
..............thanks

Criminals don't have a hard time getting guns in Australia who are you trying to bullshit to?

Your gunpolicy link is not credible Philip Alpers has no credibility.

From your link-
Quote:
Number of Privately Owned Firearms

The estimated total number of guns (both licit and illicit) held by civilians in Australia is

2016: 3,150,0001

How does Philip Alpers know how many illicit guns are out there, if he knows where they are why haven't the police been told to go get them?

Not only that he is way out with legal firearm numbers The NZ sporting shooters association said he was a sloppy researcher with dubious qualifications.

In 2016 we had 5,798,980 registered firearms with 1,973,522 firearm license holders which is nearly double what Philip Alpers claims we have.

Page 63 for license and registered firearm numbers.

The UK banned pistols it made no difference to gun crime there.

*SIGH*

Hand guns might be the weapon of choice for armed robberies downunder but they are harder to get than in the US for criminals.   You appear to have focused on one sentence amongst all the others that refute everything you have claimed, Panther.  Not unusual in someone who thinks the only answer to a gun is more guns.  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Yes but the answer to more guns is more, more guns ?

It's an argument you need an arsenal that you are prepared to use to win.

Though I am not sure how a english soccer team would help.
