Aboriginals have been maintaining the land for over 60,000 years.
They would have a starting point at the right time of year and conditions and the fire would move outward in 360' degrees where 'residents' like Fauna had good opportunity to escape.
The Canopy and Trees never caught alight and they never had Fire Trucks if the flames got higher (they never did).
Their 'method' was PREVENTION and not on AFTERMATH as the Western way is.
Even just 100 years ago - the Aboriginal method was still being used by Pastoralists and Farmers.

But with all the legislation and tenures. The Fuel buildup has been left unchecked. Don't blame the Greens - they've had stuff all Political input. Blaming the Greens is just the ALP/LNP way of shifting blame from themselves.

Aboriginals are still trying to teach their ways (talking about the Land Aboriginals, not the Political Activists and Media shock jocks) - but few have listened.

Aboriginal Fire Management is Superior.
Western Fire Management is Primitive and Inferior.
Simple point really.

Political Australia is a Burke & Wills tragedy.

do I hear 65,000....yes I've got 70, 000 ... hup 80,000 years now .... it's on the market.

Aboriginal Folk Lore - are you seriously going to try to persuade anyone that a few Aborigines lighting fires would have made any difference in this current long-running drought and super dry conditions?  They'd burn the whole farken place down - as WAR wants to...

There weren't enough Aborigines to effectively manage the land or anything else ... and how the hell do YOU know what they might have caused by lighting fires without control?  Just light it and let it burn, and now it is some mystical experience...

Jesus Christ... you should be horse-whipped out of town.

No you pair of nuts.  Grin
The land was already prepared in case of random lightning strikes and hapless Colonists landing on their shores.
Any 'weather' anomaly that created a fire would just burn low to the ground...

...as proven, the Abo fires never inflamed to take in the whole canopy of forest and bush. Their landscape never had messy underbrush and litter fueling a Wild Fire.

Sorry to say - but their 'Fire' Management successfully contained and controlled all fire situations - where habitable.

If Bob Hawke was in power, he would have poured a few glasses of beer and say "She'll be right mate."
