Weak as piss the lot of em.

But you have to look at the honest truth.  Look at what good did topple Iraq and destabilize Syria did?  We had rise of Islamic state.  And this is going to be same with Iran.  There will always be another villain take over the previous, one more radical than the other.   You and Gordon are day dreaming thinking this assassination is going to end anything.

Iran is 90% Shia. How will it have the same sectarian divide?

By now, you should realize that even within Shia and Sunni groups, there are different sub groups. For example, the current president of Iran (relatively more moderate) is in a different faction to the person killed  (a hardline).   Such is the nature of human kind.

I have mentioned before, if you look close into the conflicts, you will realize that its pretty much power struggle between humans for control of land, resources and manpower.  Religion is just an excuse, a moral booster, a ruling tool for those with power.

Sayyid Ali Hosseini Khamenei - The Grand Ayatollah --- is the Supreme Leader of Iran ...

and he's hard line Shia .... it's irrelevant what sect the President belongs to .... so him being moderate means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

Gordon likes to tell fibs.

Ask him for proof of someone supporting the murdered Iranian General, or the Iranian regime, and he runs away.

Oh, I dunno - a million people show up to his funeral, they rumble a little and 59 get crushed to death... now I don't know how that looks to you, but it seems like a hell of a lot of support right there, counsellor.... I suppose you could say that Usual Suspect opposition to anything Old Wharte Men created or involved in would pass as support for anything else..

Rebels Without A Cause will always manufacture a cause... what's Greta's blueprint for a Brave New World - given that her rhetoric is mainstream 'feminist' nonsense... bring down the Old White Men (Patriarchy).. forget that Old White Men include your Gramps and all he did for you and family, and all the Gramps going back generations... just go after the old bastards, but deny it's ageism, genderism etc...

As for Syria.. well - look at the number of Rads that have been wiped out... proxy war on the cheap...  Wink  .... draw 'em into the killing ground of their own choosing and let 'em think they brought the fight to the enemy while they are taken down...

I didn't say it was going to end anything. If the US wanted to "end it" they could.
Nuke every military base, airport, port and a few in between and level the joint....and if they rebuild nuke em again. There would be no coming back from that. That is how you "end it".
This exercise the other day was a NEW warning shot. Carry on like salami did and end up like he did. A choice Iran need to consider.

Personally the US should have left Saddam alone. Sure he tortured and killed his own....who really cared at the time? I didn't.
Oh, thats right.....I do remember, at the time, all the do gooders and human rights activists becoming very vocal and demanding something be done about Saddam and his EVIL regime. Shall we blame them? Why not?

I did say that the mostly white carrnts on here and around the world apologising to the Iranian regime is sickening.
Salami was a terrorist to the Americans. Americans died becuase of orders salami handed down.
How long would you sit and watch someone kill members of your family or country before you retaliate? Not as long as the tanks did I bet.
I am by no means an American gov fan however observing these Hollywood elites, silly little white suppressors here and abroad, msns etc apologise to Iran is sickening.
The gutless losers won't go and live in Iran and leave the country and people they hate....NOOOOO. These scabs will live in the country they hate and praise the people they do not live with.
I think it is time the patriotic west stood up and did something about these traitorous pricks and pricketts.

I really can't believe that people here are pro Iranian regime, it beggars belief.

Just because you are not physically there, it does not mean our government is not involved.   I do share your frustration.  However, the truth is that, as long oil / petroleum is the driving engine of the world's economy and military power; as long as there is US/Russia/China paradigm.  Places in the middle East and Africa, will NEVER ever see peace.  And it would be fantasy to wish our leaders to have nothing to do with those countries.

Well, there's a surprise - year after year of hating on The Great Shaitan, and now they've found the balls to get angry?

If they hadn't embarked upon their personal war of national inferiority complex and done over the US embassy.... they wouldn't be having half the problems they are now.. if they'd changed their ways a little and stopped attacking foreign national ships etc instead of playing at jihad, they wouldn't be suffering the sanctions they are now... and their kids are dying as a result..

Trump will be laughing his head off to hear that Iran is angry with him personally.... maybe their general should have been told not to organise attacks in Iraq, but he can sort that out with Allah... no problems...

I take it then, Graps that you excuse the crimes of the US in supporting the Shah over the people before the revolution?   The Iranian students who captured the US embassy did so out of outrage at what they had discovered once they had taken control of the files of SAVAK - the Shah's old secret police organisation.  The US was quite happy shafting Iranian people if those people didn't support the Shah, the US and of course, "the American way",  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

It is a gross over simplification of politics in that region.  For example, in the neighboring Iraq, its president is a kurd, and Shia and Sunni makes up the balance of power in its parliament.  But the president himself - the supposed number one is still one of the factions.

Iran's president is Hassan Rouhani, who was first elected in 2013, on a more moderate platform.  In 2017 election, Rouhani gathered 57.14% of the votes, which indicates the broader support of the population for closer engagement with Europe (note, Europe not USA).  Now with the assassination of a more hardline figure - it is more likely to drive the general population towards a more hardline / right wing view, and therefore bringing the country closer to conflict.

Again you are oversimplify things.  The US is there to stay, and they dont want to end it.  There are 38 known US bases stationed around Iran.  This should give you a scale and depth of US involvement in that region.   If you nuke Iran, you also threaten not only those bases, but also important allies around the region.  Remember, nuclear laced clouds can drift very far and wide.  Europe, Asia, African will not be spared.  And the Persian gulf, which is basically life line of Australian economy will be in peril.  Nuclear is not an option there.

Saddam Hussein.  No one liked him, except, when he was an ally of USA war machine against Iran. At one stage, he was even given a key to the city of Detroit.  Nevermind back then of course, he abuses human rights.  He is only becoming a baddie, during Bush times.  And then a thinly veiled excuse was set up, billions of tax payers money, thousands of soldiers died and thousands more injured to go a war on a lie.  And then when he was captured, he was hastily trialed and executed.

And now Iran.  We are resorting to illegal assissinations, taking laws into our own hands.  There is no trial, there is no jury.

Now, this is not apologise to Iran, or Iraq.  People are questioning and self reflecting, because, how are we supposed to call ourselves the "bastion of good", "the beacon of hope", "warrior of democracy", when we are using methods and ways that are no better than our enemies, the ways that we look down to?  What difference does it make to the ordinary people who lives there, when we are just another tyrant like everyone else.

Of course, I blame Islam. You?

Not to mention the support shown to Wahhabism.

But don;t tell Gordy that. One good towel head is as good as another.

Oh no, Gordon knows the difference between a towel-head and a Persian.

But yes, it's all in the interests of the Saudis and weapons sales.

Trump Tower anyone?

Yes, they may own most of the apartments in Trump Tower. And they may be planning one in Mecca (to rival the two in Istanbul and the one planned for Moscow).

But do you know? I'm sure that if Iran were willing to buy one, the geopolitics of the Middle East would change somewhat, wouldn't you?

We'll wait and see, okay?

The USA will have its hands full dealing with China as North Korea brings it reluctantly into the conflict between Russia & China already underway.
Islam will be free to do to the French (left out in front to defend what 'was' - because Britain and others 'exited' out the back door)... what the Germans did to the Jews.

Yeah, Iran could be the next silicon valley if they just stopped shooting their own university students on the street, imprisoning and torturing them, hanging their gays, shaking their fist at Israel and threatening to turn them to dust, fueling sectarian violence thru the region and jailing women for not wearing hijabs. But that's all our fault, we make them do all that, right?

Not all all - but as they say about Penny Wong's child - two Wongs didn't make it, right?  Or is that gay marriage - two Wongs don't make a right?

I do not excuse the US support for the Shah - any more than I excuse Iranian Islamist excesses.... there are better ways to resolve issues than waging jihad... or running a Neo-Cold War style of approach..
