Australia/Minimum wage   Huh

$19.49
The current minimum wage in Australia is $740.80 per week, which equates to a minimum hourly rate of $19.49. The minimum wage is the absolute lowest that an employee can be paid. This minimum wage was set on May 30, 2019 and must be adhered to by all businesses operating in Australia.

I knew a lawyer  about - nearly 20 years ago -
he said that he wouldn't get out of bed for under $500k per annum.
Any less than that and he said you can't do anything much with the money.

The real problem isnt necessarily the minimum wage itself, its greedy corporations increasing their overheads (landlords making small business and grocery stores overpay for renting the land they are doing business in) as well as bonuses to the higher ups each year which in every industry.Inflation and the cost of living from inflation is the real problem, not really whatever the minimum wage is. If a loaf of bread was $1.20 rather than $2, that would make much more of a difference to the average poor family/person than giving them a $2 an hour raise on the minimum wage, which inflation would gobble up by jacking up the prices on all the necessary things a person needs to survive (basic grocery needs, insurance, car and house repayments, power and water bills etc)

This is why the grubberment is making it illegal to purchase anything over $10,000.00 with cash.

This is why the grubberment is trying to introduce plastic only economy.

By law, if you barter goods.
You are required to pay tax equivalent to the mandatory tax involved if it were a cash transaction.
But no one does it.

The grubberment waste our taxes.
They pay themselves obscene incomes and benifits.
They know the danger of a cash based society and are doing everything in their power to destroy it.

I try to pay tax free any time I can.
I try to work for cash every time I can.
The grubberment can simply continue to do what they do best.
Rob us blind.

It's still a lot more than the USA wage by far.
Throw in the fact that much of Australian Retail and Hospitality now 'expect' TIPS and as I found out yesterday at a small quaint restaurant that exhibits that it has been on Getaway - that it incorporates a 10% surcharge from the Customer's pockets to pay for the Penalty Rates of its employees.
Never mind people 'promoting' the restaurant from word of mouth!  Roll Eyes Free of Charge.

So I didn't have the correct change for the bill ($37) and motioned to get it, when the owner's face dropped sourly (they didn't want payment by card as they don't have a tip option on it) - until I stepped back and said "Here" and handed two $20 notes and said "Keep the change."  Roll Eyes

Yep - even the snooty boutique brigade are nothing more than scamming beggars. Roll Eyes
