He was very careful because the authorities are always listening. But he said he is scared for his wife, children and himself. Very quiet in Shanghai. They don't go out unless absolutely necessary. It might just be worse than what they are letting on.

I've got some friends who are "trapped there" by choice, from Singapore.

The information they're able to get out isn't great, but so far it matches a lot of what is being reported.

But even though they are regularly there for business, they're still tourists, they may not know enough to be a realisable source.

When I was at Uni there was a sign under many dunny rolls in the toilets saying -
