There was an epidemiologist on ABC radio today.

The good news is they suspect severity of the illness (deaths) may be dependent on the viral load you come into contact which is why the death toll at ground zero is so high. Bad news, it going to rage through Australia.

There was an article on the ABC website yesterday quietly suggesting people not panic buy, but keep the cupboards full.

I'm actually going to stock up with enough to keep us going for a month.

Lol    Grin     Idiot.

Don't forget to watch ACA too.

Nothing to do with ACA. The following dude has a phd in toxicology and a masters in business and I have been following his videos for a month and so far he has been spot on. Put it this way are you reallky going to believe what scumo and greg c.nt tell you about what to do in these circumstances ?? Cheesy LOL

Stock up on food, if that's what makes you happy.

It's all just "reds under the bed".

A frightened population is an easily controlled population.

Well in china they have all been quramntined to their aprtments to minimize the spread so this is exactly what they have been doing !! If you want to put your head in the sand like most aussies do and believe that Australia has some sort of invisible immunity dome to both viruses and monetary problems then be my guest Wink

I'm not putting my head in the sand.

I'm just not panicking, that's all.

Buy your masks, stock up on food, do whatever you like - I just find it all very amusing.

you find people dying amusing ?

No, not at all.

I find the over-reaction and panicking from healthy people amusing.

All those people in china who have got sick from the virus or have died were peobably healthy nefore they got the virus. Your point is ?? You believe that Australia has an invisible immunity dome to viruses ?? Cheesy LOL

I'm not worried about the virus, I'm worried that food supply chains could be interrupted for a week or two.

I've got a 3 and 13 year old to consider. How hard is it to buy a few extra non perishables that you'd use anyway.

Not worried about coronavirus at all.

I am, however, concerned about my superannuation retirement account which has been reduced by about $1500 over the last 2 days.

I logged in to my account Tuesday evening and changed my investment options from the "default" (low/medium risk) which I've had since setting the account up last July to "cash" (very low risk -almost the same as having a "normal" bank account).

I have been informed by my super company that it will take a few days to make the change. The money I have in this super retirement account has to last me another 4 years until I get to age pension age (67).

It can actually last me about 5 years (a year past pension age) with the amount in there right now but I will be more than annoyed if I ended up losing a substantial amount of it with the current stock market crisis.

you and a lot of other members of superfunds  carl....

a fear or dread now seeps in when it hasnt happened yet   only might......we have had downturns in the past I am sure it will recover.... it has too.

The only way to contain this virus is to do exactly what china is doing and isolate everyone from each other in order to get the R0 value to less than 1. How many western countries could do that ? which would tell you that it is only a matter of time before we see a breakout !! Idiot scumo is telling everyone to keep going to football matches and public events. What an idiot !! It only takes one person to start it off. With an R0 of up to 6.7 it spreads like wild fire !! Much worse than the flu and SARS !

We are not isolated & we are not immune to outbreak.

Idiots are still travelling to SE Asia e.g. Indonesia/Bali, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia etc.

Don't worry about businesses going under - what is more important?

Them staying afloat or people dying?

It's what will happen with a global emergency/pandemic ....

and to the West who have stupidly(greed) put too many eggs in the Chinese basket.

That’s right, what Greggory said.

But what gets me a bit suss is, the way our government, and Scott saying they are prepared for a breakout in our country.
I’m thinking, but it’s minimal and all contained, no further problem, right?
Unless they know something we don’t?
Time will tell!
He did say because they acted quickly it didn’t spread.

And it takes my thoughts to Europe.
Thailand and Italy as such, did not restrict flights from China.
Now look at those countries.
And border control is a joke.
Not allowing people in except for trucks with medical supplies etc but allowing people to leave!!
And thus, it has spread further now Switzerland and Greece have started the count whereas before they were nil.

Yes, also, re-infections are just occurring within a month of having recovered from that virus.

Seems this type of virus loves to evolve continually on a monthly cycle?

As little is known of this particular virus, it’s time that will teach us all about it.

She's right, no matter which word she meant to type.

Nobody has caught the virus in Australia.
