Both my local Chemist Warehouses were nearly sold out of hand sanitiser.

I looked online and the prices are jacked up.

hell whatever did we use before hand sanitiser.... Grin Grin..

seriously it could be dish washing liquid for all we know..

at times like this maybe they should put a limit on things.....I watched two people doing their best to push a trolly load of water out of the shop it was a huge struggle........its madness.

Well washing hands is the most effective way of not getting sick. Hand sanitiser with alcohol (keep it away from Monk) is very effective.

well I am a cheapo and only ever bought the cheap stuff...how many people do you see use the trolly wipes in woollines to wipe the handle down before removing it from its chains?????.....

I dont think I have seen anyone......

its the same in public toilets    who wears gloves to open and shut the doors..... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

wash your hands before leaving the room    not the cubical.. Roll Eyes

its far too late to worry now.......just be glad your not booked to fly to Italy or Iran.... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Hi Nail,
You'll also find that politicians and senior public servants
will have secret access to supplies of Tamiflu and other medical drugs.
The Govt has secret stockpiles for themselves
using our money.
Ordinary people won't be able to get the medicine they need.

heres an interesting statistic
Quote:
In Australia, influenza on average causes 3,500 deaths, about 18,000 hospitalisations and 300,000 GP consultations each year.
If we get anywhere near this I may think about taking a little precaution but some of you people need to calm your tits.

I have not had influenza since 2017. I have had the sniffles each year. But nothing that was not recovered within a couple of days.

Even if I did get the corona virus, I would probably have the strongest influenza symptoms in the last 2 decades. My body is probably overdue for a challenge to my immune system. Even last year, some guy coughing in my face was not enough to get me sick.

Rubbish - they have been giving people powerful anti-viral drugs
that were designed to fight AIDS.
There won't be enough for all of us.

Coronavirus has an ‘HIV-like mutation’ which helps it to attack human cells, scientists claim author imageJasper HamillThursday 27 Feb 2020 1:12 pm

The coronavirus has an ‘HIV-like’ mutation which helps it to bind with human cells at a terrifyingly effective rate, Chinese scientists have claimed. A new study from Nankai University alleged that Covid-19’s ability to infect cells is up to 1,000 times more powerful than SARS, a coronavirus which caused 774 deaths in 17 countries between November 2002 and July 2003. The new coronavirus emerged in Wuhan, China, and has now killed 2,800 victims and infected more than 80,000. In a new piece of research, scientists said SARS enters the human body by binding with a protein called ACE2 that exists in human cell membranes. But the new coronavirus aims for an enzyme called furin – the same enzyme attacked by HIV and ebola. Professor Ruan Jishou and his team at Nankai University found genes in Covid-19 which did not exist in SARS but can be found in both of the viruses responsible for spreading HIV and ebola, according to the South China Morning Post.

We're not being told the truth on the
news so as not to cause panic.

I know that during a previous flu
outbreak I couldn't get Tamiflu
as prescribed
medicine but I read that the Govt
had stockpiled it for themselves.

What I've seen and read from the experts is that containment has failed, it's time to move to the next phase.  And on that, they've been saying that the current death rates are overblown due to the mass under reporting of confirmed cases as there are lots of people without any symptoms or they're so mild that they have not even seen a doctor.

Yes, the elderly should be worried and I hope aged care facilities have been making preperations in the time China bought the world by going into lockdown.

It is likely that it will be the mode widespread virus in terms of infections given how effective at transmission it is, but, it is too early to tell if it will be as deadly as the fear mongers and panic merchants (trying to cash in on fake news, clicks and "survival kits") are telling us it "IS".

Then there are the crackpot conspiracies making things even worse and the US President trying to politicise the issue and he and the VP seemingly asleep at the wheel after defunding many of the agencies whose job it is to deal with these sorts of pandemics.

There will be a big jump in cases as many contries are improving their detection but that spike doesn't mean things are out of control, it will just be a sign of better detection.  And with that better detection, we'll see the death rate lower.

I call bullshit on you being prescribed Tamiflu.  You may have chosen to try and buy it because you were in a panic, but that's beside the point.

Your claim was that drugs to treat AIDS/HIV are being used to treat COVID-19 yet you don't post anything to support that, just the same quote that you're also attributing to "therefore it must be man-made".

Where is the extraordinary evidence?

Has Tamiflu been shown to be an effective treatment?

I know of one patient in Thailand, an elderly woman, that was treated with a drug combination called lopinavir/ritonavir approved to treat HIV under the brand name Kaletra n combination with the flu drug oseltamivir (Tamiflu).

It was reported on February 18, 2020 that an elderly Chinese woman, the first patient to receive the "Thai cocktail" in Bangkok's Rajvithi Hospital, had made a complete recovery after suffering from severe COVID-19-related pneumonia.

I don't know much else about it since then.

I'm sure Government's around the world have stockpiled supplies for elected officials under the banner of "keeping a functional Government" and while that's important, they also need to worry about the people.

But if you're going to quote Sagan, at least try to love up to it.

Mr Sad,
I was prescribed Tamiflu but even 5
different chemists could not get it.
It was during a previous flu outbreak.

Apologise for calling me a liar.
