As usual, and in keeping with my representations to Guvco during the fire crisis,

i feel sorry for the people just coming to terms with losing everything in the fires. With travel restrictions in place, their claims and repairs could be delayed indefinitely

I heard the market was tanking.. sort of like the ballast tanks in a submarine about to dive... hold on to your hats....

A place we are very interested in, but due to this catastrophe, we have shied away from doing any borrowing/bridging finance.
Whew, lucky or we would have been cactus to try and sell ours if we had signed up for anything.

We have pulled back and putting it all on hold.
In the meantime we will get our property ready for when the time comes.

The house we liked, has just dropped it’s price by $85,000 !

Which means all house prices will drop including ours.

Had we signed clad iron contract a few weeks ago, and settled in 2-3 months, Who knows how much our property would have fallen in price or if it could even sell due to all restrictions!

If anyone wanted to buy from interstate, to see it, they would have to self isolate 14 days first!

Then go back to their state, and self isolate again for another 14 days!

So real estate will hit a slump like everything.
My instinct says so.
And what essential services will be open for it?
Auctions are going online now.
Okay for properties already inspected.

How do people inspect homes on the market?
I heard, that inspection can take place but only not allowed to touch anything or open draws/cupboards.

But rules are changing by the minute so who knows the iron clad answer?
Cross the bridge when we come to it.

It wasn’t a choice to be tough.
It was survival mode. No schooling, no festivities, nothing but doing as the enemy tells you at gun point.

I agree, they weren't necessarily tough, they were survivors .

Looks like Olympics will be postponed. All the travel restrictions make it impossible to go ahead.

Hard choice - hold on to what you've got.... I commented to the ex that if I had the spare I'd be looking to buy shares as they go down...  keep an eye on that prospect - it might work to your benefit.

The ex's daughter is about to go back to work in homecare - fortunately the ex had two boxes of rubber gloves from art class.... and we've got a good mask somewhere, and sorted out an ice cream container of personal disinfectant solution that can be carried in the car.

Her (the ex's grand-daughter) daughter is still not at school - just over that ear infection and no wish to see anything happen.  Home schooling a la Grappler - at the table and let's see your lessons... we'll make a doctor or you yet!

Collected some anti-biotics from scripts I had for a possible flu last Winter but didn't use .... useful for secondary infections, but not for a virus... also stocked up on  script for Salbutamol - ventolin.

Keep up the very warm salty water and rinse (not gargle) throat, and syphon it through nasal passages.  The right temperature and salt content won't hurt at all, and it sure clears out the sinuses and throat.

Still (re) building the garage for the ex's daughter and her daughter.. it was the original residence and since taken mostly apart, so no council needs to be involved.  Got its own toilet and shower.

70 year olds go bragh!

A salt gargle is good for a sore throat, and having a sore throat would make you more susceptible for the virus to take hold.

An irritated throat would be a much more hospitable place for a virus to take hold. If a salt gargle helps reduce the inflammation, it would if fact do more than nothing, as you suggested.

Saltwater gargle

Several studies have found that gargling several times a day with warm saltwater can reduce swelling in the throat and loosen mucus, helping to flush out irritants or bacteria.

Doctors generally recommend dissolving half a teaspoon of salt in one cup of water. If the salty taste is too unpleasant for you, try adding a small amount of honey to sweeten the mixture slightly. (Just remember to spit the water out after gargling, rather than swallowing!)

It looked like there were very long dole queues on the news tonight, bludgers.

There might be a few cheap BMW's around from the yuppie community.
